I am drawn to different points of view.  Whether it be lying belly down in the grass,  shooting straight up a flower’s stem, or shooting from above a subject like this shot above,  I  think shaking things up and trying new points of view can prove fun and interesting.  Rather than a straight on portrait,  I like how this brings focus to the subtle details;  the eyelashes and the brim of his hat.  What different points of view have you tried and liked?  Share some with us today.

  10. Lovely shot, just beautiful. I love the colors, the detail, and the overall mood.

    I like angled, from below or from above shots. I think for me it depends on the subject which one I end up choosing, though often it’s not deliberate. I just keep moving until I find something I like? It should be more conscious so that I’m more consistent instead of getting a few lucky shots.

    I also find myself laying on the ground, looking up a lot. i realized this when i was taking some portraits of a friends little girl and she asked "why are you doing that?" I realized i must look pretty funny and I told her it’s just fun to get different angles sometimes. a week or so later they went to Disney World and her mom told me that she was laying on her belly the whole time, taking pictures of all the characters b/c she wanted to "take pictures like Tina". How cute is that?

  22. That’s a very sweet photo. His eyelashes are gorgeous!

    I get into "trouble" for taking photos from unusual angles. Someone almost called 9/11 because she saw me prone on the sidewalk. My kids are mortified (they are adolescents) whenever I do anything a little unusual for a shot. They say I look like I’m pee’ing when I squat, LOL! I try not to embarrass them too much, but I do figure that the more unusual the angle, the less likely it’s been done before.

  30. just lovely…*an angels eye view*….one of my favorite perspectives…..sometimes when i’m shooting a group of people i will tilt/twist the camera slightly and lean forward into the shot to creat a whimsical effect. plsu its very slimming! hehehe

  32. Love this! Yes – the eyelashes! A beautiful and thoughtful image.
    I like shooting items on the ground – looking directly above. It’s been awhile since I did that. One of my favorite images from years ago, were roses arranged on a beautiful tile floor.

  33. i love different points of view also. my biggest pet peeve is when people say, "i love your camera, it takes such great pictures".
    its not the camera- while it helps a smidge- its the angles. the perspective!

  46. These jerseys which are interestingly termed retro basketball jerseys are old school. Here is an example, men football jerseys, Kobe’s jersey at the present time, but the Lakers look 20 years ago. That would be an example of the throwback kind.
