As much as I love being together, I love being alone. Craving that slim stretch of time in the dark when my house downshifts into a state of calm. I tiptoe up the steps to my little office and sit before a window of images, strolling through moments and getting lost in thoughts that hover and lilt like butterflies. I set them free in the quiet space and wonder if they’ll land before it’s time to lasso them back behind the mounting list of tasks waiting at the bottom of the stairs.
Do you crave that sliver of calm? Let’s see a quiet space.
I used to hide in the bathroom in my late twenties to find a sliver of calm, but now, finally, I have an organized quiet space in which to be creative.

I remember exactly that feeling when my kids were young. Of needing to escape to somewhere quiet..just to complete a whole thought. It’s why I started waking myself up long before dawn..and how it is I began my daily practice:

I captured a quiet moment that my husband and son were sharing on the beach in SC. We were nearing the end of two weeks with family and friends over Thanksgiving, and they stepped outside the celebrations for a moment of calm.

I usually wake up much earlier than my family. In those quiet hours before the rest of the house is up, I find my sliver of calm.

Finding calm in the gentle rhythms of home…

beautifully lit capture.
though there are no children in my household and it is generally a quiet place, i still need to find calm from the busyness of this world and life sometimes. my bedroom is the most tranquil spot in my home. it’s rather large, so i’ve filled it with lots of treasures and memories… photos, vintage jewelry that was handed down, favorite little treasures. it’s my favorite place to go and hide when i’m overwhelmed by life. and my favorite time is early evening when the sun is starting to go down. there is the most wonderful glow through the windows cast onto everything in that space. i love to just sit and roam around the room with my eyes and soak in all the sweet memories.i took my camera with me once a while back so that i might capture it forever.

i know exactly what you mean. even amidst the chaos of my daily life on the weekends, I find my calm in little distilled vignettes like this – http://www.traceyclark.com/blog/2010/3/18/friday-light-wish.html
and i just love your image Steph! it’s awesome.
I don’t have to hide away for a quiet moment anymore now that my daughter is away at college but I do enjoy the calm and slow of weekend mornings.

I love the quiet moments in the morning before the family awakes and the business of our day gets started. But sometimes I crave an escape that is even more of a solitary adventure. Here is a capture from one of my solitary excursions http://www.flickr.com/photos/tildabelle/4279580137/
This photo makes me feel calm… and hopeful.

On a 2 hour flight, upon descent, when the lights are turned off, that’s when I’m calm. Knowing that the plane is taking me home. http://www.flickr.com/photos/secretagentmama/4438851279/
Hmmm, like Elizabeth, I used to spend lots of time locked in the bathroom in my teen years to get some solitude. Now I turn to the outdoors to get my peace and quiet. I have created a few spaces in which to comfortably enjoy the calm offered by the outdoors:

When you are in uncomfortable position and have got no money to move out from that point, you will have to take the business loans. Just because that would help you unquestionably. I take term loan every year and feel myself OK because of it.
Wonderful post… Very informational and educational as usual!
