Spending Spring Break on the Sea of Cortez means capturing hundreds of photos that boast bright vibrant colors. Shooting my daughters splashing in the shore where impossibly clear blue water meets soft white sand under a cloudless blue sky and full sun offers conditions where the shots come out perfectly, just as they are, straight out of the camera (aka SOOC).

Even still, some moments captured aren’t about the color of the landscape. In fact, processing them in a way that dials out all distractions is one way to allow them to say more. About childhood. About simplicity. About a place and time we can all relate to. Whether it’s looking back at old vintage photographs or remembering our own retro childhood, some images we capture now can still up those distant memories and remind us of the beauty of the past.

  7. I was wondering if you know that we can't see the photos when we follow with an RSS feed. That is not the case with other daily pics on your site. Is there a reason for this? Or is it a mistake?

    Vintage cameras also take me back, my grandma had a few that I always used to admire (and later inherited and then lost in a move [I am still weeping] ). As a result, I have a serious love affair with vintage cameras, as you can appreciate here:

  15. Oh goodness, I have many images that would fit this theme.

    But, looking through what I've shot, this one is probably a favorite. This was a spontaneous shot of my 80 year old mother's hand, as she was showing me her collection of antique linens. My mom suffers from Alzheimer's disease and while we've appreciative that she's in early stages, my siblings and I know there's a rough road ahead. I love that she loves and appreciates vintage things. This photo makes me smile.

    It was an image that was nearly a throwaway. It had so many problems with blown out exposure and the focus wasn't that great. I spent alot time saving this picture. I"m so glad I didn't click delete.

    I'm just starting to build my portfolio and hope to start a business soon. I look forward to learning more from your site.
