choose your own adventure

August 2, 2011 By Meredith Winn

Happy August!

The sun tilts just a bit now with golden light and long nights. Crickets chirp, dune grass holds fast. This last month of summer is upon us. Time moves too fast! With a fleeting worry of things to be done, we approach this month with great gusto. To do all we have wanted, to spend our time wisely in appreciation of the many gifts of summer.

August kicks off our month of adventure here at Shutter Sisters. Oh the things to come! Oh the excitement! With newness fresh on our lips, with our hearts full of exploration, we introduce the new One Word Prompt: Adventure!

This August I am going on my own adventure, and so it was in the heat of my Texas backyard I celebrated this newsworthy adventure with self and flowers and sunflare. So tell me, where will August lead you? What plans have you made? Share your realities and dreams with us in the comments below. And be sure to choose your own adventure this month, however big or small. And celebrate with our community in the OWP flickr pool, it’s full of inspiration!

Adventuring up and into the mountains – where the air is crisp and clean and cool..and where I can savor the last tidbits of summer:

My son is finally old enough to be more interested in how the world works. This summer we take mini adventures and then loop back to the library to learn more. I took a camera class in June, so I'm also adventuring into using my camera settings. Finally getting weaned off "auto everything mode"!

I'm hoping this August will be full of more weekends like the one that just past – summery days spent kayaking, boating, and going to the beach with my family. I'm also hoping to get out and take more images like the sunrise photo I have pictured in the below post and I hope to snap more candid photos of daughter as she goes about her day like the one in the same post.

P.S. – If you like the shot of my daughter and have a moment to spare, please vote for me over at Click It Up A Notch. I made the Top 12. I'm so excited – this is my VERY first time ever being recognized for one of my photos and it feels SO good.

    Happy Day to everyone!

This is not normally how I celebrate but it's so hot I think I can quickly learn to.

Meredith, love the light and bokeh that you've captured! When we take our daughter back to college in a couple weeks, we plan to stop at a small museum that is said to have a nice collection of paintings by the French Impressionist, Monet. I'm looking forward to this mini-adventure!

Here are some other museum shots that I recently blogged about ~

for the coming month my big adventure is me
focusing inward, finding a quiet place within, letting my creative vein flow and see where it leads me….

I can't believe that I've not come across shuttersisters before! This blog is right up my street. I've already spread the word by embedding your code on to my site. I'll most certainly be a regular visitor here. Thanks girls!
