close up

May 13, 2010 By Kristin Zecchinelli

Some days I need to get small, real small.

There is magic to be found in the minute details of ordinary things.

So today let’s get close, real close, and shoot some macro.

Amaze us with the details you find.

Need some inspiration?  Macro May is in full swing over on flickr.  Click on over and check out all the macro goodness.

My post yesterday had one of my macro photographs which seemed the perfect image to go with a difficult subject matter.

I love the glow of your photograph and the mood it creates.

Love the soft glow of your image, it’s dream-like.

I heart my macro lens! I love when I upload the images to my computer that there’s almost always a surprise like in this photo… I could see a tiny blue dot but really couldn’t make out what that dot was until it appeared on my screen.

no macro for me, so instead i cropped in tight on the lavender feathers, they would be so fun to explore with a macro.

I love the macros but just cannot justify the cost of a macro lens. All my other lenses pay for themselves but macros are for sheer pleasure. I look forward to enjoying other people’s macros. This dandelion macro is really fabulous.

i shoot macro with my 60 mm lens. but do not think that that is all you can use one for. i LOVE my lens so much it stays on my camera for long periods of time. it is great for portraits as well really bringing out the details in the eyes. though i warn it is a heavy lens.
