communing with nature

August 7, 2010 By Tracey Clark

“…deepening our emotional ties to nature is as vital to our well-being as the close personal bonds we pursue with family and friends.” – Sarah Ban Breathnach, Simple Abundance

Today, let’s deepen our emotional ties to nature.  Share with us a captured landscape, a scenic view or even a tiny vignette graciously and lovingly provided by Mother Nature.

Nature is my preferred subject right now. I am always amazed how the same view can look different depending on time of day, light, weather and even your mood.

My appreciation for nature has become much more acute as I’ve aged and as I’ve gotten deeper into photography. A recent shot:

Not being able to see the "grand vista" on a recent trip up a mountain enabled me to see some other natural beauty, created by the fog:

For me this is one of nature’s most awesome landscapes – I hope you like it as well!

Flowers bring me the greatest joy. Don’t get me wrong, though, I love all aspects of nature. I live in one of the most beautiful places tucked away in western NC. I can’t get away from nature no matter how hard I’d try, not that I’d want to ๐Ÿ˜€

Ahh… nature, I love it so! We were dining at a friend’s house up on the mountain last evening and I caught the sun setting through the trees.

My favourite place to get close to nature is Cornwall in South West England. Here are two pictures which try to capture how beautiful this county is:

That’s so true. I’ve been lucky enough to find lots of inspiration in nature this year, but this field of poppies has been my favourite landscape so far.

Nature is one of my favorite subjects…I struggle to capture with my lens the beauty I see with my naked eye…an inspiring effort. Here is a shot I took on my recent trip to the San Juan Islands.

On an early evening walk, I encountered what must have been dozens of spider webs on a local riverwalk bridge. Combined with the setting sun, I did feel like I was getting a gift from Mother Nature.

i just got back from my first visit to Niagara Falls โ€“ what a wonder to behold. we saw it at all times of the day – even by the light of a full moon; from the top; down below; and up-close and personal. Amazing beauty!
