Happy New Year Sisters!
Beginning a whole new decade is exciting albeit a tad bit overwhelming. Taking it down a notch and just focusing on 2010 can help keep it more manageable. We’re loving the idea of the talented and ever-creative Ali Edward’s choosing just One Little Word for the year ahead; personally, it makes me giddy to start fresh. Did you pick your word yet?
Beyond the big picture of 2009, we are going to keep up with our One Word Project where we give you a word for the month to shoot toward. Ali Edwards inspired the whole thing last year, after all and we are thrilled to have her as a partner this month to kick off our first OWP for the year.
Because we’re such a creatively inventive community here, we are eager to encourage you to create the year you envision for yourself. It’s just a little twist on making traditional resolutions. Instead it’s about being more mindful in creating the life you want this year; one day, one step, or even one photo at a time.
Is it to take a photo a day? To start a business? To travel more? To paint? To tell stories? To celebrate your super-powers? Bake cookies? Color in the lines? Or out of them? Anything goes!
Only you can create the life you want…so…what will it be? Our guess is it’s going to be wonderful.
You guessed it, to get this whole year started on the right foot, our One Word for January 2010 is create. We simply cannot wait to see the photos you create in the OWP flickr pool.
Today, we toast our sisterhood and the year we will create together! Cheers!
Am starting the new year with a new calendar I ‘created’:

Looking forward to a whole new and very ‘creative’ year!! All the best to all of you at Shutter Sisters!!!
Happy New Year to all of you in Shutter Sisters land!
I would like to share with you my "one little word" for the year ~
http://www.whimsicalyearsphotography.com/blog/1160/soar-maine-lifestyle-photographer/
I think I unwittingly chose my "one word" for 2010 when I was setting my goals for the year. It’s "HAPPINESS." All of my goals (not resolutions that set me up for failure, but goals that I can work toward) are geared toward a happier life. Cutting out the distractions and making time for the things that really matter, things that refresh and renew my spirit and that of my family. 2009 was kind of awful for us as a family, and I think we need to bring happiness back into our lives.
Looking forward to a bright New Year!
GREAT choice! i love this word! i have a little metal stand of the word "create" just sitting atop my wooden "g" next to my metal "b" {for my initials. they hang right next to my computer, and inspire me every day to keep creating.
i don’t have a photo that says "create", but i do have one that has a quote that reminds me of creativity. i chose this quote for this photo, because the shot of an unopened bud last spring reminded me of a paint brush…

happy new year, tracey {and to all the shutter sisters!}
"create" is a great way to start the year — a word with potential and power… to take "what is" and transform it into something unexpected and new.
my year ahead will be filled with words — i can’t choose just one! visit me at my 365 project:

I’m starting a personal revolution and I’m doing my second 365 project. Thank you Shutter Sisters for being so inspiring every day!!!!
That’s a great way to look at life, to create what you want. I DID choose my one word for the year, before it was brought up here, and mine was focus. ๐
Create….hmm….I think I am creating me… Thanks for getting me thinking.
