creative footprint

September 21, 2010 By Alex Desouza

I’ve been busy nursing my baby girl and therefore I am currently a sister of a few words and even fewer shots! But I wanted to share with you a thought that’s popped in my head lately: “Photography is our creative footprint.” Isn’t that true? It’s our unique mark… It’s the evidence of where we’ve been and what we’ve seen… It’s the special trace we leave behind.

So leave us some footprints today showing where you’ve been recently! I haven’t left the house much in the last month and I certainly will appreciate you taking me for a stroll! 🙂

Congratulations on a baby girl! I love the idea of photography as my creative footprint. After spending a month and a half in Ireland this summer, I still have a zillion photos left to edit and post to flickr – a process which feels like retracing the steps I took in Ireland and remembering the wonderful times I had.

This is the mos recent I posted:

You words took me back. I have such vivid memories of the time I was first nursing my newborn son. He was born in April, and I would look out onto the tulips blooming in my back yard… Ah, sweet memories. Thank you for that!

My recent creative sojourn was in Paris, just a week and a half ago. I met an online friend one afternoon, and it's a really interesting example of "creative footprints" to see the images we both took on that day.

I remember those days so well! After my first was born in June (2000) I spent a lot of time at home watching every match of Wimbledon. Enjoy your time with your baby girl!

This summer, I had the unique opportunity to take pictures at various Nature Conservancy preserves throughout New Hampshire for their upcoming 50th Anniversary brochure. It was so eye-opening. The pure beauty of unspoiled landscapes. That and time spent exploring with family is my creative and heart-felt footprint on the summer of 2010.

Now we get to such exotic places as . . . school. I almost always have my camera for our walks to and from, you never know what you'll see. Here's what I saw this morning:
