Tink tink tink…
My husand kneels down and picks up a ping pong ball from the gutter.
Look what just blew down the street, he comments as he holds up the small, dirty and dented ball between his thumb and first finger. Cool.
I’ve studied and studied the found object and have written story after story in my mind of how it came to be and where it could have come from. None of which make much sense and so I just admire it. And, like a true photographer, I photograph it.
With each image, this tiny, curious object offers something different, doning a variety of looks and feelings none less curious than the next. One lone ping pong ball. And so much mystery.

This image – I think – answers to the ‘look what just blew down the street’ thought. When I saw all of these bubbles coming out of a bubble machine in a dog park (of all place)..I just couldn’t resist:

At first I thought it was the moon …. I didn’t use different light in this series, but my lens had misted over when I came in from the cold. I probably should have waited and let it dry before I used the camera, but I loved the effect it had on the flowers.

I’m so glad I discovered this post. I come to photography from a writing background and I love how this hobby has helped me "see" the stories of everyday objects, AND find a community of others who do as well! My own subjects are broken umbrellas, which always garners 1 of 2 responses. 😉
