equal day. equal night.

March 20, 2012 By Meredith Winn

It’s official: today is the first day of spring! The equinox, a day of equal length to night. And what a welcome day that is here in New England. Right now we are knee deep (literally at times) in mud season. And although there’s still snow on the ground around these woods, the sun is shining more each day. What’s it look like in your neck of the woods?

Lately, we’ve been finding ourselves outside more, happy for the sunshine and season. We perform circus acts in the yard with hula hoops and big straw hats. We laugh and capture the flag from unknowing opponents. Cats go adventuring into wooded fairyland and we follow along behind, eager for the after school adventure.

How will you spend your time today? Be mindful of light and dark as you move throughout your day, and please pop in here to share your images. We’d love to see what the spring equinox looks like to you!

Our first day of official spring is starting off with a little fog…and a forecast of unseasonably warm and welcome sunny temperatures:

In my neck of the woods, it feels more like summer so I enjoyed documenting our post work and school evening to welcome spring:

I live in South Florida, so I actually took this yesterday evening. Seasons here kind of blend into a long, slightly, slowly heating or cooling down phases….

It's still looking rather brown with us but the squirrels seem to be enjoying themselves.

we are enjoying some unseasonably hot days here in southern Ontario. the temperatures usually average around 4C (37F) but today it was close to 30F (86F)! It's unbelievable.

I do love the spring and hearing the birds:

This morning, as we stepped outside to wait for the school bus, I was literally blindsided by the sun. I ran back into the house and picked up my camera to capture the magnificent light.

Spring is exploding here in New York, I cannot believe we had such a mild winter (not complaining, not even a bit!). Today I have enjoyed free macaroons (!), bubbles in the park and pizza. Honestly, I have focused more on the light, darkness is not much of my thing… it makes me so moody! ๐Ÿ˜›

Spring has hit Pennsylvania! I decided to photography the blossoming tree in front of our house, which is pretty much my favorite part of our yard!
