Just over a year ago we shared our enthusiasm for all things Ali Edwards, including her photo project called A Week In the Life. Love it! Thanks Ali for the inspiration!
Now, imagine that concept on a global scale. Enter the Week of Life Project: A unique internet medium for all citizens of the globe. Over at their site they invite everyone to take part in what they call the largest documentary project of all time! Sweet. We love collaborative and community projects so much and we thought this one was a dandy! Check out all the images that people have shared from their life. Neat stuff!
The project reminds me of a more concentrated version of the ever popular 365 but waaaaaaay less of a time commitment. Week of Life calls for 7 days captured in 9 photographs in each day. 63 photographs that make up a small documentary about one’s life, which can help to create a large documentary about the world. I like that idea. So, with that in mind, let’s see something from your week this week. Shed a little light into your world, and ours.
Photo above captured an evening in our life, as shot by my 11-year-old daughter.

For those of you who are actively engaged in the 365 project, we want to hear from you! We’re planning another post full of inspiration and ideas for starting and sticking with the ambitious and coveted 365. Something along the lines of the one Stephanie shared and the one that followed. Share with us your thoughts so we can include them in our 365 inspiration round up!

Love the shot!
I have done a Week In The Life twice now, once last year while Ali was doing it and again this year – I teamed up with a fellow Shutter Sister and we encouraged each other and supported one another ๐ Its a wonderful project. Can’t wait to read the post on 365!

What a wonderful project concept and idea. I love how universal it is. So very inspiring..thanks for posting this.

What a great idea. I found it was so hard to keep up with a 365 so now I am looking for photography projects and inspiration in smaller chunks. This seems manageable and really interesting so thanks for sharing! I am totally going to participate. I’ve also started a smaller scale photography inspiration project on my blog and on flickr, 100 steps.

wow. this is a great shot. i wish is had half the talent of eleven-year old. she’s got the gift like her mama!
i love this idea. i need to learn to take better indoor photography when the light is trickier. then i can start taking some better "slice of life" photos of my life at home–my everyday life. here is a meager attempt at it from last sunday.

I just started my 365 just over a week ago. I am actually really loving the process so far. It is a commitment but it is a fun commitment. I go to bed with my mind spinning of what to do next. The project is brewing up creativity that I have been waiting for.
As for a day in the life, what a lovely idea.. here are a few shots from yesterday. One outtake from my 365 and the rest just moments that I wanted to document,

This sounds like a WONDERFUL idea! I may wait to do this until the first of November. October seems to have me scrambling.
I DO have a 365 blog, such as it is. It’s really just a document of our daily lives via photos and words. http://thekreativelifedailyphoto.blogspot.com/

What luck! I just posted on my blog this morning a photo journal of my adventures yesterday making and canning applesauce with my boys. I was so happy with the way it turned out I was just thinking of documenting an entire day in photos more often, and then you introduce me to the Week in Life project. When you keep your eyes and your mind open to possibilities the Universe will provide!

I love photo projects. I am currently on day 295 of the 365 project. There have been a few days when I have questioned my sanity taking on this project. It can be challenging to just "want" to take a picture everyday!
My best advice to anyone wanting to take on the 365 project is to remember that not every picture has to be a work of art. I strive to create images that are interesting, but lets face it………our daily lives aren’t always really interesting! If you get caught up in making sure that each day you have that "Wow" image, then you are more likely to give up. Go with the flow and allow your project to reflect your daily life. You will be happy you did.
Here is the link to my 365 blog (http://2009pictureadayproject.blogspot.com/). I post only one photo to represent each day.

I checked my link and it says that the link can not be found, but if you click on the link on that page it does take you to my blog. If it doesn’t then just copy and paste. ๐

I’m planning to start a 365 project on New Years Day (thought it was a good day to start). Looking forward to see the post on 365 projects.
Here is a photo I took this week of my morning view out my window. I love to look at the view while I work, especially now in the fall. I took it for a series on my blog called Through My Window. Every Tuesday I’ll be posting a fellow blogger’s window view.

I am doing a 365 project. I started around June on an arbitrary date. I’ve stuck with it for the most part…missed a day here or there. I love the inspiration I get here. For some reason, the weekly project seems even more ambitious to me. I will however, consider one for the other, depending on which one seems the most creatively challenging for me. Thanks!

What a wonderful photo — your daughter is very talented! ๐ I’m heading over to check out the project now…

I started a 365 project on Jan 1, 2008 but bailed out somewhere over the summer and then hobbled along through the end of the year. I was worried that winter would kill me because we stay home so much – in fact, summer did me in because we were so busy.
With renewed spirit, I started again on Jan 1, 2009 and I haven’t missed a day yet.

Then in June I had my third (and last) baby. Since he is getting the short end of the stick in so many other areas of his life, I decided to attempt a 365 of his first year. So far, it has been an awesome and thrilling experience. There is so much that I forget about with our crazy life with three kids that being able to document the little things every day. I’m not sure what I will do with all the photos, but I’m glad I have them.

And a big tip for anyone who is attempting a 365 – knock your photo off before noon (unless you have some fabulous evening plans) and your day will be much brighter and stressfree. There is nothing worse than seeing the sun set and feeling panicky that you have to shoot somethig ASAP or risk ruining your project.

I tried to start the 365 last january and failed. I recently decided to try again, but this time, I didn’t put pressure on myself about keeping it going EVERY single day. I knew that wasn’t realistic for me… I knew that there would be circumstances that kept me from getting photos each day. I do try every single day, and have recently started taking my photo a day with the camera on my iphone.

They aren’t all my favorite photos, but I think it is good for me to continue to look for and capture a moment of my day, even if it is with my iphone camera rather than my dslr.
