seeking…
Lady Liberty

I took this shot at the South Street Seaport in Manhattan last weekend. Seeing the long line of tourists eagerly await the water taxi for a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty gave me a good feeling.  I love this country.

Do share your view of America today.

These are two older shots taken while observing a parade and town barbecue in Newfields, NH in 2006. I’ve written about this event on my blog–it portrays an America that always tugs at my heart.

Stephanie’s post gave me the shivers (in a good way!) – I used to live in South Street Seaport many moons ago and in fact I write this as I am on vacation in New York to catch up with old friends and I was just downtown there yesterday.

I am attaching a link to a couple of pics I took yesterday: baseball and Grand Central as seen by a British gal in the city that I was proud to call home for a year.
    Happy 4th of July everyone!

I have a fondness for county fairs a la Charlotte’s Web. They feature the bounty of the land and also a certain kitschy Americana. Gritty and languid and apple pie pure all at the same time.

It’s not an eagle..but it does represent freedom and liberty and what this country stands for:

Hi. In between posting a comment here and the present hour – I changed my blog’s URL (yes I may be going crazy). Just wanted to leave link to the new address, where you can find the photo and response to this post. Thanks!

I wrote a post on my blog today on how thankful I am to live in the United States. I think we (I) sometimes forget to appreciate the freedoms we have here.

sometimes my view of the world is small and I feel small and uncool. The shots I take of my world aren’t grand vistas or gritty exotic street scenes. But sometimes my view of the world is small and within the small window, the magic pours in.
