“This is how you make the ball catch on fire!” He’s matter of fact (and breathless in laughter) while swinging his arm madly around in circles. We are both so full of life and joy in this moment of a mother and son game of catch. I swing my camera around and shoot a series of photos from the hip as he demonstrates his technique.
Hours later, when I saw that I had caught the ball with these shots, I was all smiles again.
I take some photos with the clear intention of using them together in series. I often do this by creating diptypchs or triptychs, then with a bit of imagination in post processing I sew them seamlessly together. The result is typically a really fun moment that was best captured in series.
There are many ways to tell a story with photography. By sewing your own photos together, you can create a scene, a display, a mood, or a breathtaking optical illusion.
Today think in series. Play with your own photos and see what comes together to tell a story. Check out the shutter sisters pool (and some other fun groups) for inspiration. And don’t forget to leave your creations in the comments below.
Get ready, get set, go have fun!

What a fun image..and so sweet. Reminds me of when my boys were young.
Here's not quite the same 'series' image..but a 'series' nonetheless:

It's funny because I uploaded this to Flickr this morning and then came across to read your article. I posted this diptych to celebrate the first day of March and the stirrings of Spring.

Love the baseball shots! I don't have a recent diptych to share, but here's a themed series of sorts I posted yesterday. Not quite as fun as yours!

I adore this one. It was -20F outside so we brought the bikes in the basement. My daughter had abandoned her trike and my son rode circles around it.

I love your photograph! I need to learn how to do that.
I was playing with shutter speed when washing my strawberries and thought it would make a nice triptych.

Love this image!
We took a 1,400 mile trip last week to reunite a 100 year old school bell with her community.
While not a diptych, I was able to play with functions of my camera I'd never used to create and post this yesterday:

I don't do many diptychs, but I really should start. Such a creative and fun way to tell a story through photos.
Does this count?
