friday's featured resource-canvas wraps

We put so much thought into planning our portrait sessions. What to wear? Where to shoot? Then there's the challenge of coordinating schedules, and trying to make sure our kids stay clean for ten minutes. It's easy to see why some of us procrastinate family portraits year after year. Then again, sometimes we do go through all the effort of coordinating a session, only to end up with a couple 5x7s framed on a desk or on a bookcase. To me, that seems like a waste. If you're going to do it, go BIG! Don't go through all the planning and expense of a portrait session, only to have a CD sit in a drawer. And there's no easier way to turn your images into wall art, than through Simply Canvas. They have one product, and they do it well. Plus they're fast, easy to work with, and they can create any custom size that you need. Love them!

*Edited to add: sorry everyone! When I wrote this, I didn't realize that Simply Canvas is a professional printer only. I know there are lots of places online that do gallery wraps, which you can find using a google search. I don't want to recommend one that I haven't used. So here's another great option. San Antonio Photolab is a local resource here, but they do have online services. You can easily create an account and upload your files. They do great work. You do have to pay for shipping for the wraps, but is FREE for regular prints.

our friend and wedding photographer recently surprised us with a couple of canvases made with candid shots from our wedding (almost 7 years ago). it's something i never would have done for myself... but i'm so glad that he did. they look great and catch everyone's eye.

That looks awesome. Although I read their FAQ, and one of the questions was this:

"Do you work with consumers? At this time we only work through approved professional studios and artists."

Does that mean that a general consumer like me could not order from them?

They look great and I have been looking for a place to order canvas prints from, however, they appear to be a professional only website.

Canvas on Demand https://www.canvasondemand.com/ works with everyone, not just professionals. I ordered from them and just love it. Their customer service is great also. I had a slight problem with my order, the size I picked didn't fit my photo ( my crop was too tight) but they quickly e-mailed me the same day I placed my order to let me know about the problem. They said they would make me a custom size at no extra charge. They also ship fast, took only a week after I placed my order. I will say that I was a tad nervous when the box came , because I just did not know what to expect, but I was so happy with my order. It looks amazing and I will be placing more orders with them.

I have very happily used Heritage Makers for my canvas needs. They even have the capability to use digital artwork as embellishments to your photographs. Feel free to email me with any questions. I'd be happy to help anyone interested in printing in the US with a 7 day publishing turnaround time.

I have not done a canvas but have used mpix.com for my other printing (prints and books). I have been extremely happy with everything they've done!

Do they really work with non-professionals? I looked at the sight and the FAQ specifically states they only work with professionals. Unless maybe it changed recently?

Has anyone tried using Mpix.com for the canvas wraps? I am soo tempted, but have never had one made before, and I am afraid they might come out grainy or with poor resolution. Any tips?
