the world exploded in love all around me

Bob Schneider's dreamy voice is floating through the loft and outside we can hear the wind and rain adding its own aural interpretation to the track. For a brief moment I close my eyes and take it all in. The way he smells... the way he breathes... the way his hair tickles my face. Like he's reading my mind he turns to kiss my cheek and says nothing.

And in this moment, everything is as it should be.

What is your favorite song? What memories or visuals come to mind when you hear it? Why not create an image inspired by that song? It can be literal or conceptual. Just follow your heart.

Or, if you're looking for a little inspiration, download 'The World Exploded In Love All Around Me' (2.6mb)

I don't have an image to post here yet (re favourite song) ... but just had to say for now what a beautiful song that is!!!!!! It's going to be one of my listen-to-it-over-and-over songs and I will definitely include it as one of the 12 songs in my personal soundtrack for 2008.

i love this song, so so much (and this dreamy pic!) and i love the idea of creating an image to speak to the feeling i get when i hear a favorite song. some songs that seem good for this kind of exercise (at least in my opinion) are...

gravel lines by amy seeley
philosophia by guggenheim grotto
anything by camille

What a gorgeous picture! I was already listening to music when I pulled this picture up - "Terremoto" by Strunz & Farah. This actually went perfectly with your picture too!

Funny, I took a photo this weekend and titled it after a song, "Sowing the Seeds of Love" by Tears for Fears.

Although it is a good song and I am a child of the 80's I'm not ready to call it my favorite. This sounds like a great afternoon project!

This is such a lovely post, and a wonderful song - thanks so much for passing it on.

I'm so into Martha Wainwright lately - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzPHHpi1bUA - discovered her during our trip to find a place for Liam's ashes. To listen to her now is to summon some kind of sweet, melancholy peace... it's hard to describe. Like sun streaming through woods in the late summer, and crisp morning, and woodsmoke, and a gnarly old two-trunked tree at the end of an everglade.

I like this challenge - love it. Hmmm...

I can't stop looking at that photo of you two. His gaze is so intense and yours is so bliss. The love washes over me.

This is an excellent challenge. I will take it! My husband and I have many songs that our "our song". I'll try to work on a photo that is one of "our songs".

Krystyn, what a powerful shot (and words) with your partern...and how truly inspiring!

I read, whipped around in my office chair to Tom (my partner) who was sitting at his desk and said: I have a photo challenge for you, right here, right now! Off we went...I'll post pics within the next 48hrs! Thank you soooo much for this...I can't wait to share my own story of how the picture came to be.

peace,
Lil

@Kate: I heart Martha Wainwright too! Have you heard her duet with Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol? It's called 'Set Fire To The Third Bar'... kills me everytime I hear it.

@Elspeth @camerashymomma: Other Bob Schneider fans! Love his stuff. One of those artists that makes me sing aloud (and feel sorry for the people around me. Hehe.)

@Anali @jen: I think I have some new songs to look up. Thanks for sharing!

@Lil: I thought you might like that one. I seem to remember a similar moment of serenity from you in a Mama Says Om challenge. ;)

@Aimee & everyone else: Please post links here when you upload your images -- I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I listen to "Little Morning Song" every morning at breakfast... It seems like a photograph in itself.

You can listen to it at www.myspace.com/kimmcmechan

"Light on the creaky floor, it's a morning with open skies/ And you at the kitchen counter/I take a breath and reach for you/Where are the poets who write about happiness?/They make it seem like life is such a mess/But it's enough to be right here/While the sun slips down and across your hair./

The singer, Kim McMechan, is writing beautifully about her daughter and it's one of those tunes that make you remember that beauty is in the simple things.

Lovely post & photo...Thanks!

ok, a week late, but better late than never!

I couldn't get the music to stream properly in WordPress, but I was dancing to "Freedom" by George Michael...I think I found it...

Thank you again Krystyn for the inspiration!
