textured life

033108_600.jpg

I stood there for a solid five minutes trying to find his eyes. No luck.

And he stood there contemplating me, his chum decidedly unimpressed. It was as if I'd asked to take his picture and he'd sheepishly replied, "Meh."

(ba-dum-dum.)

Have you ever had one of those lovely moments in which you ask permission without speaking, and some momentarily peaceful, still, contented beast cooperates?

Hi, I am not sure why but the image isn't loading for me.

Just a few days ago there was a cat on our window sill that didn't mind me taking pictures.

well not so "wild" are mine, but they did pose a bit. took a walk at Perkin's Cove yesterday, tide was out and these guys were huddled together catching some spring rays

wonderful photo. i can feel them.

here's a zebra taken a long time ago with a crappy camera through a car window, but something about his proximity and eyes makes me like it still

I love, love your photo. The color and texture are so rich and warm. Delicious.

I have some cooperative equine beasties that humored me one rainy, muddy day to show you:

And one contended cuddly blue eyed canine to share:

Love that photo! Love the texture of the fleece. Just great!

I have a cooperating beast here. The second picture on the post, not the tree face <g>

What a great shot -- love the texture, and the feeling of connection with the shaggy thing. Here's my cooperating fauna -- it helps if you're feeding them at the time. :)

such a great image of those sheep. I love it!

My dog is usually very cooperative, but gets bored with me shooting him all the time. I just uploaded this shot last night.

I have a couple that came to mind:

This one almost looked like a painting to me: http://www.flickr.com/photos/momofthreewi/2294701169/in/set-72157603973015858/

This one's always been a favorite, since puppies so rarely sit still:

and this one just cracks me up every time:

I often wonder what they are thinking when I am snapping the shot :o)

This deer was looking straight at us! Too bad I could only get the picture using night shot mode, he was very cooperative while I tried other camera settings too but I just couldn't figure out how to get a good nighttime picture. I have a lot to learn :)

This made me giggle because I immediately thought of my children. Not in a beasty way. But the fact when they do cooperate, it's amazing. And it might not be what I felt I wanted.

For a long time I stood there assuring that mama I would never hurt her sweet little baby. And though the baby heard my voice and wanted to come closer to check me out, still the mama would not let her.
After another 10 minutes or so, finally, the mama looked at me and I SWEAR I heard her let out a sigh and say, "oh, all right" in disgust. Then, her precious little one came around the front and began to munch hay right before my eyes. =)

Just this past weekend I walked right by three deer standing still as statues on a stone wall. Inititally, I thought they were leftover christmas reindeer ornaments. I hardly gave them a second glance..until one of them moved ever so slightly. For a moment - we simply stared at one another. I couldn't believe my eyes. Quickly - I pulled my camera out of its bag, It was the click of the shutter that spooked them and sent them running.

I did manage to capture this (among a few other memorable shots):

We were walking through a field, on our way back from the trail that led to the amazing waterfalls. The field was filled with horses. I walked amoung them, and they came to me.

Then of course there was that elk that stood in the middle of town square.
