a thousand words

042308_600.jpg

There's something about the notion of taking a photograph every day that I find interesting. Last year, I was  in love with this collection of mornings ,(now evenings). I want to get back into the habit of noticing. Not because the light is right. Or because she's-growing-so-fast-and-I-better. I want to have a reason to just shoot whatever catches my eye. So, I've started taking (at least) a photograph per day. Not for work. And not like vitamins. I'm not going to make a big deal rule out of it. No certain ways. And the photo doesn't even have to be "good". Because I don't know about you, but sometimes I just want to capture the moment. Quickly, maybe out of focus. Whatever. Just something so that when I look back on it, I will remember that moment in all it's flawed perfection. When you shoot photographs for a living, you get into a nasty habit of only doing it for a living. So this is where I'm starting, with my little collection of snap shots that were taken over the past few days. I like the idea that each day is important enough to have its portrait taken. Want to join me?

Altho my kids are grown..I'm still taking at least one photo each day. Now that they're grown and mostly gone..I've found other things to focus my camera on.

Ooooh...I do! This is something I've been peeking in on, not sure when I should plunge. Now is the time.

How are we doing it? A group sort of thing, that we share, or a singular assignment?

great idea!

Yes, I love this idea...although I take a ton everyday right now. But it's those unexpected ones that make this wonderful.

I've been trying to take more snapshots lately, for a while it seems like I got caught up in trying to make every picture perfect with great lighting and composition. I finally realized I was missing out on a lot of memories just because they were happening inside with bad light and I didn't want to use my flash. Here's a couple I took the over the weekend.

I've been doing just this since Jan. 2. It's the most fun. I feel like my photography is getting more interesting, and I'm just more aware of life and paying attention.

At the end of this year, I can't wait to sit down and look back at the whole lot of them and see how they all look together -- a whole year!!

(if you are interested, I'm posting them on my blog -- day-by-day. Some, as you commented, are good, some not -- all are life as I lived it. . . http://lynlepre.typepad.com)

I started taking pictures almost everyday since about January of this year. Not religiously have-to-get-out-of-bed-at-night if I forget, but almost everyday. I also upped my blogging to daily, with pics of whatever catches my fancy and my thoughts on the simple things in life. It's a unique way to look at the world, and step back and enjoy the little moments.

Ok. I've lost my desire to photograph (that kinda happened when I sold my Nikon D70 and replaced it with a point-and-shoot Canon...HUGE mistake). I stumbled across this blog a week ago or so and am loving it...so here I am! I like having an incentive. And I LOVE the thought behind this blog.

I have been doing a lot of this lately and just posting about mundane things that I like like my son relishing in his Saturday afternoon snack.

I did this in March and it has turned into habit. A delightful habit for building a memory garden.

I sometimes wish that I didn't see a picture in everything. On the other hand, I am very grateful that I do. Taking the "gazillions" of pictures that I do, helps me remember the everyday joys that I never want to forget. :)

I started my site "simply taken" for the reason of simply taking photos...When I started it I was just trying to learn my camera...I have not learned my camera completely but I have learned that capturing 'something' each day seems so much more important to me now.

I've been trying to take pictures everyday, especially since I began my 365 project in January. I'd love to participate in something here too. Love this blog and all the warmth and intent behind it. :)

I do! I just finished 365 projects for each child and I think they're tired of it and I'm exhausted with trying to get a "good" one of them each and every day. But I like the idea of doing a picture a day, it keeps me practicing and getting better. I do enjoy it, but taking one of the kids every day is so exhausting. It will also open my eye to shooting other things, which I've been challenging myself to do lately.

I echo Lyn's comments - with the ease of digital photography, I find myself paying more attention to details around me. Visiting France next week will present new opportunities for photography - yay!

I just restarted my Project 365 pictures. So far I'm just going for a random picture a day, I do hope to throw a few "good" ones in there once in a while too. :o)

I took a photograph a day in 2007, and this year, while I still shoot frequently, I've gotten out of the habit.

I'm in. Thanks for the nudge!

Yes! I've been mulling this idea around in my head for the past week or so...I think I'll join in too! I just recharged my point and shoot, think I'll start carrying it around with me everywhere for times when I don't have the DSLR. Just needed the right jump-start, thanks!

I have my camera out every day but don't have any type of organized 'picture of the day'. I would like to join in!
