Lady Liberty

Do share your view of America today.

These are two older shots taken while observing a parade and town barbecue in Newfields, NH in 2006. I've written about this event on my blog--it portrays an America that always tugs at my heart.

Stephanie's post gave me the shivers (in a good way!) - I used to live in South Street Seaport many moons ago and in fact I write this as I am on vacation in New York to catch up with old friends and I was just downtown there yesterday.

I am attaching a link to a couple of pics I took yesterday: baseball and Grand Central as seen by a British gal in the city that I was proud to call home for a year.
Happy 4th of July everyone!

I have a fondness for county fairs a la Charlotte's Web. They feature the bounty of the land and also a certain kitschy Americana. Gritty and languid and apple pie pure all at the same time.

I wrote a post on my blog today on how thankful I am to live in the United States. I think we (I) sometimes forget to appreciate the freedoms we have here.

sometimes my view of the world is small and I feel small and uncool. The shots I take of my world aren't grand vistas or gritty exotic street scenes. But sometimes my view of the world is small and within the small window, the magic pours in.
