quotable photable

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.

Stephen Hawking (1942 - ), Der Spiegel, 1989

This isn't necessarily a call for monkeys, although monkeys are welcome.

This is a call for wonderment. Gaping, gobsmacked, anything-but-average wonderment -- the kind that makes us something very special.

The next to the last photo on this page struck a chord with me. I always think that I can see the wonder.. the gears in his mind... thinking on something as he gently feels the rushing water.

This is the grand-daughter of a friend of mine. In this photo, she is the center of attention at a gathering of family and friends - probably the first time she'd been in such a large group of people. Her expressions and reactions were the source of lots of smiles.

love this. i even include a quote about childhood and wonder on my web page intro...

"Past certain ages or certain wisdoms it is very difficult to look with wonder; it is best done when one is a child; after that, and if you are lucky, you will find a bridge of childhood and walk across it." -- Truman Capote

these two recent photos lept to mind:

It's interesting that most images here are of the wonderment of children. I think as adults we lose that sense of wonder, which is a shame.

One acknowledges that modern life seems to be not very cheap, nevertheless people require money for various stuff and not every person gets big sums money. Thus to get quick business loans and just consolidation loans will be good way out.
