curious world

Tink tink tink...

My husand kneels down and picks up a ping pong ball from the gutter.

Look what just blew down the street, he comments as he holds up the small, dirty and dented ball between his thumb and first finger. Cool.

I've studied and studied the found object and have written story after story in my mind of how it came to be and where it could have come from. None of which make much sense and so I just admire it. And, like a true photographer, I photograph it.

With each image, this tiny, curious object offers something different, doning a variety of looks and feelings none less curious than the next. One lone ping pong ball. And so much mystery.

Have you ever seen a single object in many different lights? Share a sequence with us of something that has captivated your lens.

This image - I think - answers to the 'look what just blew down the street' thought. When I saw all of these bubbles coming out of a bubble machine in a dog park (of all place)..I just couldn't resist:

I love the simplicity of today's post. Something so uncomplicated, just is.

I think this is a weed...but I played with it anyway.

i am so impressed by these three shots, tracey! how you've turned a simple object into art. so so cool!

i don't have a series like this that i can think of to share. but you have inspired me to look more closely at everyday things and play.

it looks like a tiny little planet...

i love this series - thought it is not really exploring the object by many angles - it certainly shows the object BEING explored & enjoyed by many angles... i may have already shared this - my apologies if i have : }

At first I thought it was the moon .... I didn't use different light in this series, but my lens had misted over when I came in from the cold. I probably should have waited and let it dry before I used the camera, but I loved the effect it had on the flowers.

Absolutely! I like doing that...
I know it's not really unique, but I do that with my feet: http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliealvarez/sets/72157610880545412/ (and liking thise new perspective: http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliealvarez/3983687093/in/set-72157610880545412/)
And there are some more things, like these curtains:

I'm so glad I discovered this post. I come to photography from a writing background and I love how this hobby has helped me "see" the stories of everyday objects, AND find a community of others who do as well! My own subjects are broken umbrellas, which always garners 1 of 2 responses. ;)

beautiful piece.

hi, tracey.

i had to stop back over at this post so i could grab a link for my post today. so i thought i would leave another comment, since last time, my comment did not have any photos to share.

the whole time i took pictures and played with them in photoshop for this post, and the whole time i wrote the post, i kept thinking back to reading this post. so i guess you can say it sort of inspired me to do today's post.
