sunrise/sunset

It's hard for me to see a sky like this and not run to grab my camera. A sunset this beautiful almost seems too good to be true, like I need proof that it actually happened or no one would believe me. It's amazing that something that happens everyday, like the sun going down, can still manage to produce such a spectacular scene. It's ordinary and extraordinary at the same time.

I'd love to see some more outstanding sunsets or sunrises. Leave your examples in the comments!

I feel the same way. I love that we can experience such amazing beauty at sunrise and sunset!

This is my favorite sunrise shot taken from the balcony of my old apartment.

Not exactly an image of the sun rising or setting...but an image that reflects the sunset in this particular city:

Pam Love this pix. I took one of the same sky or one like it about one month ago. I too love these evening pix of the sun going down.

One sure thing about Florida is that the skies are usually pretty interesting. Here are I few I've seen:

All of the photos posted here are really gorgeous! For some reason, I often find that the brightest sunsets don't translate well to photographs for me -- they don't fit the image I had wanted to capture. So I look for less showy moments, and I love the results.

gorgeous sweeping shot!

i have to say, i loved sunsets long before i found a hobby in photography, but i seek them out even more now. i have a friend that i used to meet up with over the summer almost every night so that we could take pictures of the sunsets. last night on the way to the grocery store, there was an incredible one, and i was kicking myself for not bringing my camera along. it's always when you don't have it with you that you see the most picture perfect things.

here is one of the better ones i saw over the summer. unfortunately, i was in a parking lot when i discovered how incredible the sky was, so it limited my photo opp. but i was still happy with some of the shots.

I always have mixed feelings about shooting sunsets - my shots never seem to capture the real life total absorption of the moment...
That said everyone's posts here are amazing, and make me feel all warm on this chilly, sunless Ontario day :)

I can never get enough of sunrises or sunsets. You can never have too many photos. They help fill in the gaps between the real ones, when you just need a shot of color in your life. There is nothing more beautiful.
Here is one of my latest - taken in Key West, Fla.

Living in Taiwan makes it hard to see beautiful sunsets, so when they are present I always have to run and get my camera.

Total coincidence that I took this photo last night, just when I needed to see such a gorgeous display. I wrote a bit about why, other than just being beautiful, this sunset was special for me on my blog. For me, something as awe inspiring as an unbelievable sunset, puts me and my troubles into place, reminds me of the greater whole that's out there if I just open my eyes, and that every day is a gift. And even when I feel overwhelmed by whatever crazy things are happening in my life, its nice to feel so small next to something so grand. Perspective.
