midwinter status check

Dear July,

I miss you. Please be prompt. That is all.

Unrequited love,

Shivers McWintery

Show us a photo that's a tease of what you want the most.

Unless it involves naked vikings.

In which case please send all submissions directly to sweetsaltykate(at)gmail.com. Kidding. Mostly.

(waggles eyebrows)

I woke early this morning to get some space and quiet time. My daughter woke ten minutes after I got up. This photo, shot last week on the absolute worst day I've had in a while, seems quite appropriate this morning.

And then there is my wish that she will old enough to sleep normal hours and walk around looking like this:

as we go shopping together for this:

I would like some sunshine for more than a couple hours of one day in a week. In other words, it has basically been grey and foggy since January. Here you can see the sun trying to break through the fog by the sparkles on the frost and water drops - I want more sun:

Yep, bring on July. I'm definitely a summer person although summer in Tucson is admittedly a challenge at times. And, by the way, the idea of naked Vikings kind of appealed to me. Sad, but true.

I just made a plea to summer to return quickly as well.

I love winter and the warmth by the fire and I never thought I would say this, but I wish for the long summer days when we can take out our little boat and go fishing. It must be cold!

I went walking in the woods yesterday, hoping to find evidence of an early spring. Not much luck on that front, but the crisp, dry golds of the old winter leaves helped ease my impatience for green.

I've got the midsummer blues! It SO humid and muggy and I just want it to pour with rain and wash it all away....

Plus, we're on tankwater, so a good shower of rain midsummer is always welcome.

This post actually inspired yesterday's 365....

Sand between my feet. That is all. A simple request really.

And forget July--I'd just take April at this point. Any temps that have two digits and no negative signs before them.
