Superhero Photo Challenge: Self-portrait

Time for a good old-fashioned self-portrait.

The last time we asked you to snap a shot of yourself it was a quick and dirty kind of thing. And, you all rose to the occassion beautifully. But for this challenge, you may capture an image of yourself any way you'd like. Put some thought into it. Get creative. Tell us something about you. Self-timers, reflections, alone, together, dressed-up, sleeping, stalking, making magic, you name it. Just have fun!

This one is all about you! Give us what you got.

I was really quite happy with this sp I took the other day

Someday I'll get brave and try more self-portraits. I just hate seeing myself in "print."

This was a recent sp I took. The back story is that our washer broke, and with three teenage boys, I do laundry almost daily. This was the second repairman; the first one having just thrown up his hands 2 days prior saying he didn't know what was wrong, couldn't fix it, bye. I am extremely frustrated in this photo, and probably doing something we all wish we could do to a service repairman. Done with a self timer (3 takes!) and he had no idea.

This is one I did right before I cut all my hair off. It's very imperfect, but I sort of love it.

I just did this post on my blog about one year of growing my hair out. It. Is. Taking. Forever.

Since I'm away from my computer this weekend and unable to upload any new S.P. today, I'm going to use one of my favorites from a couple weeks ago!

There's a window in my house that gets fantastic afternoon light. I love to sit and watch the cars go by, and it's a great place to take self-portraits!

I'm always in sync with Shutter Sisters. Today's post winds up a Week in the Life (a photojournal project I'm doing this year). I ended it with me!

I never can seem to get a picture of myself that I like when I am trying to, but while on vacation this January I took this one on a whim and actually love it!

I've not really wanted to do self-portraits lately. I got two bad haircuts in a weekend that amounted to about 6 inches off my hair - hair that I'd let grow since my daughter was born in 2007. This is a good challenge for me. What started out as a five-ten minute project just snowballed, thanks to some weird glitch I ran into in Photoshop, but here is my SP from today. Thanks for a place to share it!

I'm getting to this late, so I am leaving an older SP from a few weeks ago. My daughter, her fake smile (it has a life of its own), and me.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/naturemama/3406280920/

But it is a SP I actually like. I think it is because I had spent a wonderful relaxing weekend at my parents' with tons of family time.

My camera is being uncooperative - a sure sign that there is a DSLR in my near future! So, I'm digging into my recent archives to share these two recent self-portraits - both enhanced with Picnik fun features!

An exercise in bravery that was well accepted by my readers.
A few rose to the challenge themselves.
I'll follow up with a link to their posts in the near future.
But for now, this was my post last week. xo

This is my first post here. I liked your challenge. I really don't like taking pictures of myself - I prefer to be - behind the camera. I was suprised at what I came up with - and esp. that I really liked it. Natural light - timer - sitting on the floor in my office. Here's the link.....

Ok - I'll play. More of a quick and dirty effort, taken a couple of weeks ago. I really don't like these but maybe it's time to start experimenting!

I took this a few weeks ago. And loved it. It has been a long time since I recognized the person in the photos looking back at me. I recognize her. I like her. And it has been a long road to get here.

I'm so thankful perfection is not a requirement to be a part of the Shutter Sisters community. :-) I somehow managed to post two links to the same self-portrait. Here is the second one I meant to share with you:

This was a challenge for me for a number of reasons, but I'm happy with the end result - better knowledge of my editing programs :)
