Perfectly Imperfect

She wore the too big dress and too big shoes for a project her mom and I were working on and she managed to hobble outside so I could take her picture.  She really hadn't been in the mood to do it and it was obvious.  She could barely stand in the shoes so we decided to let her sit.  It took both of us to gather up the folds of tule and satin so she could sit down and once she sat, we stepped back and had to laugh.  Her expression was priceless and the shot was too good to pass up.  Was it the look we had originally intended? Not at all, but it worked.  It was the perfectly imperfect shot and in my experience those shots usually end up being my favorite.

What about you? Do you have a perfectly imperfect shot? If you do, please share.  We'd love to see it.

Here's one of my perfectly imperfect experssions. Had hoped to capture them with their eyes open:

o my goodness -- she is wonderful!

i was trying to get my kids to sit together nicely on the couch for a holiday photo, and i was taking a series of really fast shots. caught them both reacting to my plea for "one more shot":

Ha ha that is brilliant!

Here's a recent accidental shot:

In real life the flower was a light purple and the background was a lime green. Was messing around with the tones or hues or something in photoshop and now it looks like a funky daisy, lol. I love oops moments. To be honest, most of my pictures are accidental. Don't tell. :)

Sometimes my perfectly imperfect photos are the snapshots of our life. I love the background details and story.

I love photographing children, and they have a way of messing up all of your plans.

she was painting and had paint covering her arms and her face...maybe some trailed on the table. but as i handed her this cutout, she lifted it to her face so she could see out the hole. it was priceless and i'm glad i captured that moment of fun instead of making her sit formally.

I love this picture! It's kind of like she gets that it's bizarre.

That shot is priceless!! The red lips make it. Too funny. :) A recent one of mine that I couldn't get quite "perfect" according to my standards, but I still love it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trudem/4367304260/

I forgot to change the aperture ring in my LensBaby. I was sitting at a stoplight. Still though, perfectly imperfect.

A friend of mine and I were experimenting with multiple flashes for this shoot. We had ours programed on different channels so we wouldn't set each other's off with our own cameras. I just so happened to get right in front of his when he was also shooting - the light shot right into my lens. I thought it was going to blow the whole image out, but the results were my favorite of the day.
