Cheap Frills

image shot with my Nokia N8

Standing in the check out line a sunny bouquet of flowers caught my eye. Ah ha! That is exactly what I need! I didn't hesitate to grab it before I left the store. And just that simple, I totally made my own day!

Is it just me or does anyone else forget that there are a number of simple things we can do to lift our spirits?

I have been delighted and inspired but this simple arrangement all week long. In fact, it's not only offered me some well-needed color therapy (during the season that often lacks it) but it has served as a creative muse. I can't stop shooting all the color, texture and frills that this bouquet of slowers boasts!

It may be too chilly for swingy skirts but that doesn't mean I can't use this Gerber Daisy as a substitute. Just don't tell her it's not spring yet!

I encourage you to get girlie today! Capture something that lifts your spirits and reminds you to enjoy being a girl!

Yes..yes. Just for fun. We haven't seen sunshine all week:

And - speaking of gebera daisies - I've been having a little good fun with them myself:

Such beautiful, vibrant colors!

Last weekend I had a girlie moment when I saw a bunch of pink rose petals were left scattered on a cement post - left behind by the bride I saw moments before. I arranged them in a wee circle:

So, so true! I will have to find some colorful girly-ness today. Thanks for the inspiration Tracey!

Sparkly, glittery things always attract me,friends say I'm drawn to them just like a magpie. So for me sparkly stuff makes me feel girlie and lifts my spirits.

I love that you shot the back and underside of the flower! I have a similiar shot.

Your timing is perfect! I just issued a creativity challenge to all my photo taking friends the other day. I asked them to buy one single gerbera flower and post 10 photos of it by next Friday. I can't wait to see where their minds take them!

Yesterday, was my girlie day... relaxing by getting my hair cut and colored and listening to the gossip in the salon.

Girlie? Hmmm.... I haven't done anything spontaneously girly for myself in a while! I shall try and rectify that today :)

Wishing you all a day and lifetime full of divine femininity. Here's a photo that sums it up for me. I am honoring my girly spirit today with a creative outing with the family. Taking my camera too! Huge thanks to the support and encouragement I receive here. What a blessed community of Queens.
As we say in Jamaica, One love and 'nuff respect.

Perhaps I need to try this. I have been longing for the colors and blossoms of spring. Which is why I posted these last night.

On the gray and rainy days like we've been having recently, I get a boost from my new girlie jacket. I just love the ruffle that's on the edge! http://www.flickr.com/photos/anngeedee/5341870188/

It is still grey outside the front door, yet it is snowing and it is still very cold - so I need a few things that make my world more colorful.

I always buy cut flowers in the winter - they are such simple pleasures. I bought Tulips (my favorite!) on Sunday.

Of course, pictures are mandatory, even with a simple iPhone

i love that you photographed the back of this, instead of the front! so adorable... and yes, so girlie!

You're singing my song in this post, Tracey! I love flowers all year round but of course must rely on supermarket blooms in winter. I buy them for a spot of color as well as a subject to photograph. This shot was not taken today (I'm at work!) but is in my small collection on my work computer. Flowers are probably my #2 muse.

Right now, I am mesmerized by the mushrooms growing in the soil of my houseplant, Ms. Persistence. Living in a house with all boys, she is the ear when I need some girlie time or just want to vent a little. Here are the parasol shaped shrooms growing at her feet -- http://nature-drunk.com/?p=2259

Beautiful! And so funny because I took pictures of gerberas Friday morning for my 365 that were very similar!
