YOU.

“Today you are YOU, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than YOU.”
-Dr. Seuss

We welcome in October and with it a new one word to explore for the month, YOU.

YOU are beautiful

YOU are strong

YOU are creative

YOU are brave

YOU are enough

YOU are loved

YOU are needed

YOU are perfectly imperfect

YOU inspire

YOU give

YOU shine

YOU ROCK!

Yes YOU

Share with us the beauty of you.  All the lovely, quirky, silly, fragile, fierce, complicated, amazing pieces of you.

This month is gonna be good! I can feel it already. Can YOU

You can read more about our monthly One Word Project here. Use the one word as a bit of inspiration all month long and add your images to our OWP Pool on Flickr . Don't forget to tag your photos this month with the following 3 things, owp, october, & you.

What an inspiring word for the month..and I especially love the Dr. Seuss quote. I suppose 'you' has to do with how 'you' choose to see - even on a day that is rainy and grey:

Great word for this month!

I shot one self portrait last year, something I'm not comfortable doing. And I think it shows in this image. If any of you are like me you always like to be behind the lens and not in front. But being in front can teach us so much. So with that being said, the word this month inspires me to shoot another self portrait before the 31th.

Great word, YOU! Can't wait to see the inspiration. The kids had a 1/2 day of school this past week and we took advantage of the gorgeous weather by going apple and pumpkin picking. My son, who is 8, asked to take a picture of me. Good boy!

This reminds me of Abileen in "The Help" when she told Mae Mobley, "You is kind. You is smart. You is important." I think self portraits are a wonderful tool toward self love....here are two of mine..

My daughter, after looking for a recent photo of me for her locker at school, was just complaining there were very few photos of me...(always the one behind the lens). I promised her a pic soon and while painting a couple of days ago took this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68258004@N08/6203513087/

this is so awesome. I have been recently feeling lost. Too much momma, too much pleasing. I am RIGHT now on a quest to find ME again.
Thanks.

I've recently started a self portrait project. Though I'm uncomfortable taking my own photo, I feel the need to document me. Here's the first shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/echie52/6204071545/

I love it. What a wonderful theme. At the ripe old age of 45, I'm just staring to appreciate who I am.

I LOVE the chocolaty tones in this image, do you use PS actions? OK, I really like the image too, cause I really like savouring my coffee usually when I am alone, so I really get the "YOU".

Two weeks ago, I introduced a weekly self portrait into my 365 project. Let's see if I can keep it up for another 50 weeks!

What a wonderful word for the month! I am just starting my second week of a course called Unravelling, and it is a course designed to help know yourself better. I have just spent a few days out in the glorious countryside and have been doing some writing and meditating on what "season" of my life I am in. Did a blogpost as a result about seasons, as a result of trying to find out more about myself.

How interesting this is! I love to read all your comments and follow the links. My first thought was not about self portraits, however, but portraits, how I see "you" when I shoot pictures. I made a portrait of my daughter the other day that captured something of her uniqueness to me: "This is how I see YOU". http://www.flickr.com/photos/ingwii/6203053861/

My first reaction was that this month's word was about me - and I was immediately uncomfortable with the thought of so many self portraits. A challenge, yes, but would I follow through?

Then I thought, if I were using the word, I'd be talking about how I see other people.

So I split the difference: a splintered reflection

This picture got my attention as soon as i saw it. I love the tone of color. What I love the most about this picture it the word "YOU." It makes it the focal point.
