thankful for this

A month like the one we've had here, has been incredibly nourishing. To be reminded again and again of all the things there are to be thankful for keeps me in a grateful frame of mind; which is the best frame of mind to be in.

I've been really trying to live in the space of thankfulness; for my family and friends, for health and happiness. For living a creative life, for being surrounded by a community of incredibly inspiring women, and for photography. And from the look of the One Word Project flickr pool this past month, you've been focusing on the same thing.

Although today might be the last day we "officially' celebrate the word thankful, I know that if anyone can continue to carry that spirit into the next year, it's all of you. I look forward to that. But for now, let's share for one more day, what the last month has meant.

Share with us your quintessential thanksgiving (whatever it looks like to you). And because our gracious sponsor Hello Canvas encourages us to delcare our gratitude by enlarging it (canvas style), they are providing the last giveaway of the month. All you need to do is share your "thankful" here in the comments for your chance to win the random 20X24 canvas giveaway!

And as a little something extra, they'll also be giving away a 20X24 over on their facebook page today. All you have to do is visit them over there and share a comment on their facebook wall. Don't forget to tell them you're with the sisterhood for your chance to win the fb contest.

You have until midnight tonight EST to leave your comment here for your chance to win a Hello Canvas print (like the one in the photo above!).

...........

Congratulations Veronica! You won a canvas print from Hello Canvas! YAY YOU!

I agree, Tracey, all the thankfulness that you have manifested and invited all to manifest here has been so nourishing! so thank you!!!!
also for the chance to participate in this giveaway!

my quintessential thanskgiving here has to be this: I am so thankful that looking at the world around me with the desire to imagine a photo to take is training me in seeing so many different ways in which beauty and courage can manifest themselves.

I am thankful for having the opportunity to appreciate beauty in the everyday . . . the opportunity which comes from having all my essential needs met: something which not everyone has.

Thanks to Shutter Sisters, this was my most grateful Thanksgiving holiday ever! I'm so glad I took the time to be thankful every day. The habit will definitely continue...

But all in all, there's nothing I'm more thankful for than the happiness and safety of my baby.

Here, he sleeps:

2011 was a year of crazy weather here in the Northeast. I'm a little shell shocked with the devastation and change it has left in our yard, neighborhood and town. I can see a whole lot more sky now from wherever I look out my windows, which is good and bad. I can see the storm clouds rolling in.....but I can also see clouds like these in the morning which just take my breath away.

I have a whole new appreciation for weather and beautiful clouds, which I am thankful.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year, just me and my little family. Each year I get older I am more overwhelmed at just how blessed I am.

The list of things I'm thankful for, each day, is huge.

I am even thankful for things which may seem, on the surface, to be a bit odd:

In the wise words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, I am thankful ...

"For each new morning with its light,
For rest and shelter of the night,
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything Thy goodness sends."

I think this image represents it quite well:

i am thankful for life...this life. for the ups and the downs, the highs and the lows.

the people in my life who are here to stay and those who just stop by for a brief visit.

for love and joy.

the lessons i have learned and the journeys i have taken. and the opportunities that lie in wait.

for the chance to create a business doing something that i fills me up.

i am so incredibly grateful for it all...

My quintessential Thanksgiving is my extended family gathering together and having fun.
This is my father, my husband and my cousins (who are like brothers to me) getting silly on Thanksgiving 2010:

Thank you so much for all the inspiration and chance for the giveaways. Just to have this group of "sisters" come together and appreciate and share these moments. It means a lot to me and I know many others. My family is coming in from germany tomorrow night and that is my greatest gift this year, to celebrate xmas with my parents and my family here. Hope y'all have a wonderful season..my shot for the last day... here http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliagossartandphotography/6431927829/in/photostream

Last Thanksgiving was probably the best one of my life. I had all my family around the table in my home. I lost all the photos in an unfortunate hard drive crash, but the memories are burned in my mind and heart.

I'm grateful and thankful for the time I spent around a fire pit with my family this year. It was so wonderful and healing. I remember stopping a few times during the day and taking a mental snapshot of gratitude....as the golden sun streamed through the windows and the children ran around. So blessed.

I would so, so love to win one of these canvases!

As I've been juggling a new job, family struggles, the ups and downs of relationships, and the vast troubles of the world, something I keep returning to is art's unique power to communicate love, beauty, and healing in the midst of all this. I am thankful for the ways in which art keeps me breathing; I'm thankful for hands to create with, eyes to see with, ears to hear with; above all, I'm thankful for my loved ones without whom all this art-making would be meaningless, and for the One who loves me without condition.

What put the "whole population of Paris in commotion," as Jehan de Troyes expresses it, on the sixth of January, was the double solemnity, united from time immemorial, of the Epiphany and the Feast of Fools.http://www.digbbc.com
