dreams

"It takes a lot of courage to show your dreams to someone else."  - Erma Bombeck

As a parent, I have observed many milestones but there is something extra heartwarming about witnessing a kindred spirit's dreams coming true.

Recently, one of my dear friends launched a custom cake business.  Looking for focus and direction, at the end of a thirty year marriage, she asked herself "Okay, what's next?"  She pulled her dreams off the shelf, blew off the cobwebs, set her intentions, and never looked back.

A month later, I am right by her side clicking away, just like a proud mother, documenting all the firsts. The first business cards.  The first clients.  The first wedding cake.  I am so proud and inspired.

Capturing the special moments in the lives of our loved ones is the best part of being a photographer. Spend some time today looking for all the dreams, big and small, that are coming true around you.  I invite you to share your images with us.

My dream was never to be a photographer, I came along side of my husbands dream, and now its mine too. My dream came true two years ago, when I owned a Skateboard shop. It was only for a brief moment, but it was the most happiest moments in my life. Our bad economy forced my little "The Skate House" I called it, shut down. But because of it, we had time to build my husbands photography dream into a growing business. I am thankful to the lord for his provision with our fast growing business.

It's such a tender time - marriages withstanding - when we do need to dust ourselves off and re-examine.

My friend opened a community theater. I'm amazed at her vision and persistance. She has let me document all her shows. Here are my favorites from the last production: http://www.flickr.com/photos/liffords/sets/72157626729295395/

Wow, your friend should be so proud of herself to make her dreams come true. I am right now really proud of my mom who is 58 but will move to another city shortly to start a new job. This is a big step for her as she has always lived in the same region. Still, she's not afraid to try and experience new things. I'm proud of her :)

I don't have any photos to share today, but I am preparing to chase my dreams of being a photographer professionally, and just got started with a candle business that I've wanted to do for a very long time. It is so exciting watching everything become real!

So special. What a beautiful cake and that feeling of seeing something happen for someone who truly deserves it is so wonderful. My mom is an incredible artist, but didn't do anything with it for a very long time. But she recently started painting again, and making these handmade Christmas tree star toppers that she sells on Etsy. Seeing how much joy it brings her is amazing. Thanks for the wonderful post Tammy!

Wow Yesterday's & today's post are screaming at me. I am nervous afraid & kept thinking is it a good thing to venture out into my photography side. Its not an instant thing I have to learn its patience.. I can't run w/out learning to walk but even before that I need to learn how to sit up and then crawl. Sure its gonna take time but if I hold on to dreaming it will sooner then later not just be that. I just need to keep going.

That cake is absolutely stunning!

I'd always dreamed of being good enough a photographer to do a proper photoshoot with real people and this year I have managed to do it! I haven't uploaded all the photos yet but here's a sneak peek... http://www.angiemuldowney.co.uk/2011/08/dipping-my-toe-into-a-new-field-of-photography/

Thank you for this post. My closest friend (since we were 12 years old) has started to follow her dream of moving away from a hard-hitting corporate career into her first love-- making art. I've been encouraging her along the way and recently she made her first set of commissioned pieces. Seeing her follow her dream has given me strength and encouragement to follow mine. She was the first person to comment when I made my photography blog: www.petinahopephotography.wordpress.com

I love this blog post too! This is the second time today I've visited – I wanted to read it again. I wish your friend all the best and am sure she's going to be a huge success. The cake in this photo is simply beautiful.

I accept your article, you made all the concepts. They are very convincing, certain work. Nevertheless, the positions for beginners are too short. You may only extend them from the next bit? After thanking.
