A new year, a new word

Happy New Year! We made it…together.  Another year behind us, a brand new one ahead.

Oh, the bright and beautiful possibilities!

It’s that time again, for setting our intentions, making our own personal creative goals and exploring new ways of being in the world. For the last few years, we’ve joined collective energy with our dear friend Ali Edwards through her One Little Word tradition. Way back when, at the start of our One Word Project, it was Ali that inspired us and proved that indeed, One Little Word could make a really Big difference in our creative journeys.

Today, we kick off this month of beginnings with YOUR word. We did it last year, just like this; asking YOU to celebrate YOUR word all month long for the One Word Project, in honor of One Little Word. YOUR word. Share it with us here in the comments and in our OWP Flickr group and who knows, YOUR word might be featured here!

So, as we start, share with us…what word do YOU choose to begin 2012?

Everybody has such great words here.

What I ask for this year is a daily dose of INSPIRATION. I should be long past needing it, but I sorely need it right now! Not just in my photography, but in my everyday life.

This year the word BELIEVE felt right for met. I'm embarking on some major changes and I think keeping that word in my back pocket is going to keep me from allowing fear to take over.

Happy New Year! I thought I would start 2012 with the word CREATE. I have so many goals, ideas, and resolutions dancing around my head it's hard to narrow it down. One common characteristic among all my ideas is they all relate to the word create.

GRACE: elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion, or action
I want to find grace in the world around me; I want to live gracefully and graciously.

change doesn't happen over night & life is a continual ebb & flow of process....understanding that, setting goals & dreaming big has brought me to my word for the year: BECOME.
January 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersarah
Many happies to everybody!

My word this year is STRIVE - i give up too easily on things, or take on too much so there's no way I can finish anything. I've written about it on my blog... http://www.angiemuldowney.co.uk/2012/01/happy-new-year/
January 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAngie
I had to go with two this year, as both are a part of my dreams for 2012~
My words are INTENTIONAL and SIMPLE because I want to be intentional in all of my amazing moments, and I want life to be simple - eliminate the messy and enjoy the simple.

Happy New Year Shutter Sisters! Thank you for your continued inspiration! My word for 2012 is LEAP. Eyes wide shut, eyes wide open, no looking back, just LEAP. I'm planning to participate in the 365 Days Project this year (though I guess is 366 with the LEAP year!) and have posted my first shot of the year on my blog here: http://happyshackdesigns.blogspot.com/2012/01/happy-new-year-and-365-days-project.html

My word for this year is 'Do' . . . I cannot think of any way to depict that photographically, but for this year, I want to stop just going through the motions and actually "DO" things: things for me, things for others, things that matter, but 'DO' them. I want to stop second guessing, stop worrying, stop wondering why or what if . . . just DO it.
January 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBonnie
My word for 2012 is CONNECT. I'm handwriting letters to friends and not-yet friends each week, scheduling regular girls' nights, joining a meditation group, going back to my old yoga studio, volunteering, etc. in order to build quality, more intimate connections with the people in my life. By the end of the year, I expect to be immersed in love and community.

Good luck and love to everyone on their journeys this year! xo

My word for this year found me, right here in the Shutter Sisters blog. My word is SAVOR, but I am combining it with "discover" as well. I want to SAVOR everything that comes my way. I know that in real life, there are many flavors to life: good, bad, sweet, bitter, sour. I want to be able to live in the moment, enjoy the good things that I have, even though my circumstances may not be the best. I am looking forward to this year!

this year, i hope to quiet the things in my life that need quieting, protect the things that already are quiet, and enjoy the quietness of heart and spirit and surroundings that i hopefully create.
