object of affection

This tiny stuffed horse might not look like much, but seeing it gives me that inner "awwwww". My son has moved on to bigger and better toys recently. He prefers balls, loud plastic items and constant physical activity. So even looking back on a sweet, soft toy that he loved just a few months ago makes me all sentimental. I better get used to this feeling because it's not going anywhere...for the rest of my life.

But that's one of the many reasons that I keep a camera handy at all times. Now anytime I need an "awwwww" fix I can just look back through my vast photo archives and get that warm fuzzy feeling.

Have you ever photographed an item that can instantly make you smile?

My son adores a flattened version of Piglet that he calls "Pig-It." I have great affection for that ratty old thing. Here's photos of when Pig-It was new to the family and I was having a little fun...

Soon joined by a stuffed chipmunk...

Both Pig-It and Chip got birthday parties this year...

This photo and post aren't super recent but it's an object that continues to hold meaning for me:

among our cats toys there is a furry white mouse that one of the females carries in her mouth around the house almost every day. the way she does that makes me smile and that toy always reminds me of her. she is adorable. you can see what I mean here: http://anaeye.blogspot.com/2012/01/scavenger-hunt-sunday.html

After my dad died, a friend gave me a check and told me to buy something that would remind me of my dad. Around the same time, an artist friend was moving out of town and selling his outdoor art at great prices. Since my dad really enjoyed watching the birds in his later years, I bought a lovely, artsy birdbath from my friend and every day it reminds me of my dad! It especially makes me smile when it is "active"!

Lovely image. Love the texture. And all it means!

I was setting up a shot, and my pup wanted to be included. Guess we were both tired.

She always wants to be included. And always succeeds in making me smile.

Such a cute memory I love it.

I also like photographing anything my son creates and paints. That always brings a smile to my face too and I keep a book of them.

This is something he created for me recently that can't help bring a smile:

last year I have discovered a magic place at the perilous margins of New York, Dead Horse Bay!
the place, once a city's dump near a soap factory, is now a never ending source of marvels.
so, there I found my little, funny lucky charm... a butt! How can I not laugh at it?!?
