unexpected inspiration

Photo inspired by Sharon Montrose’s wonderful Tails series.

“How do you persuade an energetic infant monkey to pause long enough for a photograph? You don’t. “I put the camera in front of him, let him do whatever he wanted and tried to capture his natural charm.”

Sharon Montrose is one of my favorite photographers. And though I have no intention of becoming an animal photographer, the creativity, the sense of passion and playfulness that she brings to her work inspire me every day.

How about you? Is there a photographer whose style couldn’t be more different than yours or than what you aspire to and yet whose work inspires you? War photographers, humanitarian, documentary photographers, fashion photographers, food photographers, sport photographers?

Today share with us.

OMG I LOVE those tails- they made me just burst out laughing with pleasure. I think most of you all shutter gals I find inspiration from since I do not have the gift of making beauty out of the every day objects. I also envy any one who has access to a good live photo teacher!

I am currently being inspired by Henri Cartier-Bresson and his street photography. Everywhere I go I look for the "decisive moment" even if I don't have my camera with me. I vow that this year I will get the courage to photograph people in the streets. People are so interesting.

I love photojournalists. I can't think of a particular one but I just love that they get right into the fray to get their photos, something I wouldn't be brave enough to do.

I would love to have the confidence to be a street photographer in the style of Vivien Meier.
I'm way too shy to ask if I may take a photo and feel it a real invasion of someone else's privacy if I just snap away without permission.
The world is a different place now.
Vivien Meier's photos show a more innocent time.
    I love her work.
