While watching The Beckoning of Lovely on Friday, there was a moment when the viewer is asked to make a wish and take a photo of oneself while making this wish. What a beautiful thing, prompting the universe to make collective wishes together, and providing a space for those lovely wishes to live on and be seen. I find it so beautiful to see all those diverse faces in a moment of wishing. I have taken many photos of wishing. Birthday wishes, dandy wishes, but never have I thought to take a shot of myself actually wishing. Fun thing is, wishes can be done totally alone if you like. No one there to make you feel uncomfortable, or make you feel like you are wishing too long, or too much, or too hard, nope, no such thing. This is YOUR wish, you get to decide all of those things, just you. No wish is too silly or strange, you can wish for really big stuff or something small. The most delicious part of wishing is no one needs to know, not ever. Your wish is sacred. Your wish is yours to keep. No one can take your wish away. Another awesome thing about wishing is you can do it ANYWHERE. In your car, in your shower, in your bed, in the morning, at night, on a star, on a candle, on an eyelash, on a necklace clasp turned round, on a dandelion, or in your heart of hearts. You can write it down, crumple it up, light it on fire, save it in a jar, or send it on a breeze. Wish alone, or with someone you love. The universe is listening. Go ahead, close your eyes, WISH.. One last perfect thing about wishes? They are unlimited… wish away. go on! No one is keeping score.

Take a photo of your wish if you feel moved to do so and share it with us here, or hold it in your heart, just leave a little note here with your name saying you did. I forgot how simple and lovely making a wish feels. Pausing and taking that moment all to myself, it just feels hopeful.

  11. Ahh this post is for me! Why? because I am the world champion of wish making. No really, it is true. I make wishes all.the.time. On the first of star of the night, when I see a redhead (you got to pinch someone as you make the wish), dandelions, shooting stars, eyelashes, midnight New Years Eve, when my husband and I say the same word at the same time, etc, etc, ad infinitum. What is interesting is that the constant wishing does not come from a place of neediness or constant want or insatisfaction (I have all I need and more and I am so grateful) it comes just from the wonderfulness that is wishing without limits, it's just fun you know? 🙂

    Anyhoo, I made a giant wish just now. No picture though, my hair is crazy (maybe I should wish for more good hair days haha)

  15. Hmmm…wishes…for a long time I haven't made any wishes…I don't know why, maybe I'm afraid they won't come true. Maybe, I believe the lie that wishing is only for children. Either way, starting today I am going to make wishing a reality for me. I NEED to do this. It's just another layer of change with which I came home from Camp SS. I have permission to make wishes. So I'll close my eyes and wish.

  33. Excellent idea! I'm learning basic photography and I think it'll be good to take photos of individuals while they make wishes. I'm so excited to try this!

    My wish is that my mom was still here.

    This is for you mom. Even though I was always a "daddy's girl" I miss you terribly. Just not the same without you. I have come to admire your strength and now realize you were the glue holding many of us together. My glue is not sticking like yours so pass down some of your supply to me! I know you were very private so all I will say is we are all heartbroken you were taken away from us way too soon.

  43. Hi I was the last person to post earlier today, my wish love and happiness.

    I don't know what kind of Voodoo is working on the shuttersisters website but I headed out to meet my sister as I had promised I would accompany her to go to see a band she likes. To my surprise I met a very pretty and wonderful girl, I have a date on Thursday. Thank you Suttersisters.
