How’s the weather where you live? Does a little rain make you cringe? Raindrops make for beautiful images and yes, sometimes soggy cameras. I try to embrace the rain as best I can and usually find myself out in it anyway, with camera in hand and a raincoat with room to stash my gear as needed.

  2. Love seeing the recent rain in Texas after a super hot summer and thousands of acres burning along with hundreds of homes. I was definitely out taking pictures, and will post one of them, but was sitting inside of my car during the rain. Never really have my camera out unless it is just a tiny misting, during which I keep my camera under a clothing article. I do have a rainproof pack cover just in case i get stuck somewhere, but try not to have to use it. My nephew ruined a pro Canon in the rain, and has made me very leary. Anyway, here is our recent rain in Texas.   6. I took this picture off my balcony. It's the dreary Seattle rain. There is something really beautiful if you look closely enough! =) Living in the Pacific Northwest, and the ever present rain, a camera cover is a must!!

  8. I'm a little nervous to take my camera out in the rain, so these ones were taken from my car. I was on the hunt for some bokeh Christmas lights, but I waited too long and the season passed me. I settled for a church, and loved how these turned out…

    My fancy equipment protector is usually a grocery bag. I haven't yet mastered covering my camera and poking the lens out a hole without having the bag get blown into the field of view. But it does seem to work for light rain.

    I usually try to use an umbrella, but that can get a little annoying..I don't have a rain cover, but I did read a good resourceful tip once when you have nothing else to use…putting your camera in a plastic shopping bag and cutting a little hole for your lens to pop through…keeping it covered until you take the shot, and when you do, just pop the lens right out of that hole.

    For me, nothing gets you & your camera through a little rain like plastic and electrical tape. If it is raining (and not pouring) this usually does the trick. If it is pouring & there is lightening… you'll find me inside with some coffee watching TV. 😉

  28. I cut a hole in the end/bottom of a ziplock bag, stick the camera in it and secure it at the end of the lens with the lens hood and just have the open or zip end with the camera back showing. My Canon and 135 fit perfectly inside and I can shoot sports in the rain. No rain photos to share…in So Cal can't remember the last time we had rain.

  30. One thing I love about getting into photography is loving the rain. This one was taken inside so there were no worries about the camera, but when I do take my camera out in the rain, I generally just try not to have it out all that long. Then I dry it off and wrap it in plastic shopping bags and put it in my backpack for the walk home.
