Its precisely the time of year when we’d give anything for warmer weather, budding blooms, soothing greens, birds and bees. We been waiting, searching, pleading for spring to come and discovering all the signs, both large and small that she is one her way (if not already than any day now). We have been focused on this glorious seasonal inevitability for nearly a month now at Picture Spring and it has been an inspiring rejuvenation of the spirit!
But in the push for what we know is coming, are we overlooking other beauties around us? Are we forgetting something?
Today as a brisk wind commands me to keep my coat on, I look around and see beauty. Yes, my attention (and lens) is drawn to the lovely colors of our blooming rose bush and to jubuliant yellow dandelions as they poise themselves to turn white and willowy. But then there is also the slow letting go of winter. There is a quality and richness that is in the letting go, the passing on, and with that there is a reminder from our old friend winter;
I am not wholly gone yet. See? But soon I will be. And then, I will return, like I always do. Don’t forget me and the gifts I bring.
And so, I turned my lens to the last whispers of winter as she gently moves and indeed was reminded of her gifts.
Today, why don’t you do the same and see what discoveries await you and your lens. Show us what winter is saying to you as she goes.
oooh…no more winter here! nothing but blue skies and fluffy white clouds!!
There are MANY last whispers of winter here in Vermont… as I look out my window and see a good two inches of snow on the ground after yesterdays storm. Alas, spring has not yet arrived in the Green Mountain State!

The seasons here in the desert are kind of upside down. As people living in "normal" climates begin to spend more time outside, people here hunker down, venturing out only when they have to. Some businesses close down entirely for the summer months. Tomorrow, one of my favorite places here, the butterfly enclosure at The Living Desert, a botanical garden and zoo in Palm Desert, CA, also closes for the season.

i have nothing recent to share for this post, as we have had an amazing, warm, spring-like-i-remember-it april here. i can’t even remember the last time we had signs of winter. every since it officially became spring on march 20, it’s been rather beautiful. but i know what you mean. as much as i love when the weather turns warm again, there are a few things that can be appreciated and missed about winter and snow.
this was one of the last snow falls we had around here… back in feb. so it’s old, but it’s all i got.

i joked about not missing winter one bit. but the fact is, i do miss the beauty of it. but i can certainly wait 9 months for it to return. : )
oh, and gorgeous photo, by the way. there is not name/label on this post, so i’m not sure who took it. but whoever took it… lovely!
