On the Table

September 24, 2009 By Stephanie Calabrese

One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta is a hip vegetarian eatery known as Dynamic Dish. My friend James introduced me to the owner and chef, David Sweeney, and this lead to a collection of lunches that nourished me with a hearty dose of fine food and visual delight. Looking through this set of images from my dining experience at the Dish makes me think that I should take the time to discover and document a handful of super cool hidden spaces where tables are full of delightful objects and thoughtful conversations. It seems most days at noon, I am too often tethered to my desk with an English Muffin on a plastic plate.

Show us what’s on your table today or share the details of an interesting restaurant or kitchen space.

On my table today, is anything but food. It’s filled with these funny foam toy thingies and paint equipment from last night when my son and a friend were playing ๐Ÿ™‚

I love to photograph food. I want to do it for a living but instead, I’ll do it in restaurants and embarrass my kids.

This picture is not one of my best photographs I have to say. It was a spur of the moment thing with very little time and thought involved. It was taken with a lensbaby and is extremely over exposed i didn’t hold the camera straight! But this little restaurant was so amazing that I had to post something from it. It’s a tiny cafe that’s housed in an even smaller town in West Virginia. They do live music on the weekends with local and not so local music. Mainly folk, blue grass, and indie. They have home made ice cream, loose leaf teas and fresh ground coffees, and homemade soup. It was seriously one of the coolest places I’ve ever been.

like any other capital city, dublin (ireland) is bursting at the seams with all manner of eateries. so hard to choose. so hard to get it right. though not an option for night-time dining, the avoca handweavers restaurant http://www.avoca.ie/ (above the gorgeous, quirky shop of the same name on suffolk street) does the trick when it comes to tasty, wholesome, leisurely lunches: http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanessa_r/3611832486/in/set-72157622314063449/
of course, good company does wonders too! http://www.flickr.com/photos/vanessa_r/3611828148/in/set-72157607451011710/
let me know if you’re in town… i’ll meet you there!

i like the simplicity of my sunday morning breakfast – they depict the seasons and what’s going on at the time.
