She’s a powerhouse. Confident, defiant, playful, determined, a force to be reckoned with.
Whenever I feel myself wimping out, I see Goreth in my mind. She faces the truth of it all and does what’s needed, odds be damned. She meets her challenges with a crazy kind of courage, when anyone else might cry or laugh. She shows up and lets her power be seen, just because you asked.
I need that kind of strength right now. I need that kind of courage. Do you?

Today we need to see your powerhouses. The women who make you stand a little straighter when they walk into the room. The ones who make you brave in your mind when you need to make a tough decision. Feel free to mine the archives, dig out the polaroids or take us down memory lane. It’ll be worth the wait to see the face of strength, to see the power in hope.

As my friend begins to let go and move on, I am reminded once again of how little time we really have and the senseless way we waste it on worry. There is always a teacher and a lesson if we are willing to pay attention. Today the message for me is, " Go forward or stay still, but don’t waste precious time in indecision."

I have to go back to an older blogpost for mine. My dear friend Christina. She is so strong and has just risen to the call of her Country both for her children and her people. She inspires me.

My beautiful, spiritual, remarkable maternal grandmother, as I never knew her, in her courageous youth, when she’d run away to the North to marry my grandfather. I learned many things at her knee, not least of which is the Golden Rule, by which I try to live, even though I’ve long since abandoned the faith that she taught me and modeled so staunchly. I miss her.

My mother. She is the strongest woman I know. In every way you can be. When I say I can’t, she says I can. Because she believes it, I have to too.

My friend Amy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sierraromeo/4146507668/ I would not be who I am as a mother or woman without her in my life.

My mom, absolutely. We’ve always been close, but our relationship now is stronger than it’s ever been and I love it. I cant talk to her about anything and feel like she’s truly listening and wants to help. I would be lost without her!

my aunt peggy is 86. she is the mother of 8 children. and she raised them alone, as an artist!
she worked her rear off, this strong texan woman. and the harder she worked, the bigger her heart became.
her own mother was disappointed in her life choices…considered her to be a bit too avant garde and not
practical enough.
she has been my hero since i was a girl. she was the first STRONG woman i encountered…and she still is
a beacon in my life…making me realize that i can do anything.
that i am strong enough.
and that i am loved.
she rules.
here is a photo i took of her, in her memphis studio.

As cliche as it may sound, my mother is my powerhouse. She believes in me in a way I don’t always, and she is my inspiration now as a mother myself.

This is a snapshot I took of my friend Abby and myself (in a bar on my 39th birthday – but that’s another story and yes that is glitter all over me). She is a powerhouse ~ always trying the new, pushing herself to learn and grow and be "out there" in the world. She was the first one to encourage me to show my photos in a local art show. Every time I need to be brave, I think of Abby.

I didn’t take this one. Probably my mom did. But I’ve shared my favorite photo of Auntie Blanche before so I thought this would be nice and different. It was over half my life ago after a high school concert and she was proud of me.
