Psssst…

January 15, 2008 By Kate Inglis

Pssst. Did I tell ya? Too afraid to fess up for what it implies for the presumed amazingness of future photos, which is no sure thing.

Santa brought mama a new SLR camera, a Canon Rebel XTi, to finally displace my point-and-shoot, the Kodak Pipsqueak 2000.

It’s a revelation, let me tell you. I can take pictures INDOORS! I have a lens that I can open up to 1.8. ONE. POINT. EIGHT. And the best part? It FOCUSES. I am pleased. I am thrilled. I am nose to the manual every night, determined to figure out how to get it to do what I hope it can do. Lots to learn, but learning’s no trouble when you’re lit up.

I know I’m all Story of Stuffed, but do me a favour and grant me one gizmo exemption.

This thing, she is some beaut.

Oh Kate, I understand. Take my chocolate, but NEVER touch my Canon. Enjoy. I look forward to what you do with yours.

Yeah, I was super excited when I got my Canon, and not afraid to show it. And that 50mm lens is my favorite to date. Amazing!

I am NOT a photographer by any stretch. I point and click.

I’m just floored by the beautiful images you have on this site. I’ll be adding you to my reader!

And this pic of this gorgeous child makes me tear up. Just amazing.

Thank you so much for sharing!

I, too, just received a Canon Rebel 10.1 (right after the holidays), which explains my obsession with learning all there is to know about the SLR world.I’m finding new revelations daily!

I hear you, totally absolutely feel your fear. My husband got me a Rebel XTi in September and has already upgraded me to the Canon 40D a week ago. I love them but am still learning. It is a fun learning though. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great site. I’m looking forward to learning! Looking at your shots really motivates me to try new things…I’d love to know if you have a favorite lens? Just curious.

Congrats on the camera! I was thrilled beyond belief to get one too! I just took a great 7 hr class on explaining the XTi. Boy is my head swimming.

Wow, I’m totally excited to see other Canon Rebel freshmen here. We can compare notes as we learn! pretty pretty please….

Kris, I’ve only got the standard issue lens plus a 55mm fixed portrait lens, which, so far, never comes off the camera. That’s all I’ve got. I’m thinking a telephoto with macro would be next, but my bank doesn’t agree. sigh.

What about you guys – what toys have you added to the basic kit?

Kim, I am so envious that you took a course. Genius! That is so fantastic.

Kate – I should get a portrait lens. I really love my 70-300 with image stabilizer (my husband spoils me), but I’m kind of a nature geek. I also love to shoot with my 24-135 macro lens. By the way, I have a Canon 20D. I can tell I’m going to learn a lot by visiting this site…thanks!

Congratulations on getting the Canon. It is on my wish list for this year, until then, I’m a point and shoot kind of gal. I can’t wait to get mines so I can take gorgeous pictures like the one of this beautiful baby.
