spring’s spark

April 9, 2012 By Tracey Clark

Coming fresh off of Easter weekend, I am feeling ignited by a surge of spring’s spark. From blossoms to blooms, sweet treats to Easter eggs, family to festivities, it seems that everyone was savoring a little piece of this season.

Although I captured a number of pictures this past week, for my Best Shot Monday, I have chosen to share something that spoke of tenderness, courage and hope. Capturing the intimate intricacies of something like this tiny peach blossom with my new Olloclip (which has a macro option for my iPhone) makes me swoon. I do believe I have found yet another creative muse!

Now it’s your turn to share your Best Shot today. We can’t wait to see what captured your spirit (and your lens) this week.

Tenderness..courage and hope. I think that best describes this little detail:

Beautiful image. I've got an Olloclip is on my wish list! This is my favorite shot of the week in spite of the fact that I've been having guy problems the past few days and my life is nothing like what you see in this photo. I'll keep hoping. 🙂 http://instamaticgratification.wordpress.com/2012/04/07/98366/

I have a new creative muse as well, now that Instagram is out for Android 🙂 My favourite IG shot so far is captured at my grandmother's place when I visited her for Easter, and it speaks of sunlight and life and hope:

This spring has been both early and spectacular in my neighborhood. I haven't even had to venture outside of my yard to get scores of pictures.

    Beautiful picture!

While traveling last week, we drove by this hotel sign and had to stop, I took a picture with my iPhone, which I edited with Luminance, and more with my DSLR and SLR which I had on hand. Shown here is with my iPhone:

I recently bought my first "big girl" camera. I've never used anything but a point and shoot. My little camera takes great macro shots, but I've struggled with the settings on this new one. Shot this while walking with my dogs.

What I love about this photo is that it was taken at the local high school – a favorite place to shoot. Even after dozens of visits there, in all times of year and in all types of light, I still find new things with which to fill the frame. The ability to see old things in a new way – my favorite thing about photography.

Our state flower only blooms for a short time each year but it's appearance signals spring! It is blooming now and I am having such fun photographing it. Here's one from this past weekend.

This moment, this gate, the conversation I had to think back about. It all meant something last week. It was a step forward, for me,. towards a future with less fear and more joy. That alone makes this photograph one I will remember, and cherish.

Okay, I am hooked . . . I still don't quite have the hang of it but am having a blast figuring it out. Here's a little moment I captured on Saturday.

I noticed these leaves on a tree in my backyard yesterday. It was late in the afternoon, and I loved how green they looked with the sun behind them. They just looked so delicate and lacey while fluttering in the breeze. I took this with my iPhone, using the Hipstamatic app. I have a Canon 5D Mark II, but my iPhone is so nice for quick, on the fly shots; It can take amazing pictures.

It was a fun week off, spending time with my sis and her family. My best shot of the week was taken in San Francisco where my niece and I spent the day exploring with a camera. It was her first time using a DSLR and we were loving it. http://debmedina.blogspot.com/2012/04/exploring-san-francisco-with-camera.html
