Found painted on a wall in Paris.
“Whether we are poets or parents or teachers or artists or gardeners, we must start where we are and use what we have. In the process of creation and relationship, what seems mundane and trivial may show itself to be a holy, precious, part of a pattern.”
-Luci Shaw
Where are you starting today?

Great post. I live in a beautiful place that, while pleasant, isn't always as stimulating or as interesting as I'd like. I'm always looking for beauty and character in the mundane:

What a great photo.
As for me, I've just started looking for beauty in a less-than-beautiful neighbourhood.

Well, right now it is early or late, depending upon how you look at it. For me, it is late, and I shall be retiring to bed (2:00 a.m.) now.
I am a stay-at-home mom, and I am surrounded by children. Not just my one, but second cousins, nephews, nieces, and friend's kids. Being a parent to one, I try to make sure he gets to hang out with other kids every day in some way, shape, or form, whether at the zoo where he is one of many, or swimming at Grandma's with his own playmate. So this is life. We have a great life. Maybe one day when he resents me for saying no to spending the night at a pal's house, I can prove how great our life was and is with a picture.
My entire photoglog is made up, almost solely, of pictures of children.

I love this post. Thanks! I used to be an amateur still life photographer with my own black and white darkroom. Photography was slow, methodical, stretching towards perfection. Now as a stay-at-home mom, photography is using the autofocus switch on my Canon Rebel and just trying to make sure the background isn't too chaotic. I find myself starting to daydream about still life work again. I realize I've actually learned a lot from working fast and am essentially starting over again from a new perspective.

I love that quote! It so perfectly phrases my feelings about how to live life, and summarizes what I am trying to create in my life right now.
