sun soaked

January 22, 2011 By Paige Balcer

Every sunny moment is a gift these days, and we’re all soaking up the rays when possible. My cat Roxy especially loves snuggling up in a sun-drenched spot and sleeping the day away. And I have to admit that a bright, sunny day inspires me to pick up my camera and start using all the natural light to my advantage. It’s refreshing to set the ISO a bit lower and up the shutter speed without worrying about exposure issues. I’m hoping to continue to utilize these rare sunny days to keep my camera warmed up until spring returns.

Are you focusing on sunny spots too? Share them with us and brighten our day!

So excited for each new day that the light is extended bit by bit before the darkness creeps in. Spring is on the horizon.

    What a cute cat. 🙂

Here's the sunshine, before we were hit by several snow storms (which accumulated about 4 ft of snow in the yard):

I love how cat's eyes seem to glow in the sunshine. I just want to curl up in that sunbeam you captured, with your cat!!

This one is from a sunny winter morning, capturing that elusive sun:

And oh, I certainly do catch the sun when I can – there's little enough of it still, and I need as much as I can get to tide me over until spring comes.

I was diligently working at my desk yesterday when I was hit by a random ray of sunshine playing with my red sneaks. I had no choice but to photograph them! in fact I went on to photograph the entire room and sent the shots to 'words to shoot by'. the word was 'place'. the sense was sun. and i was sunsationally sidetracked.
