Sometimes, my creativity needs a little kick in the pants. OK, a big one, if we’re being honest. And sometimes, the best thing to get my photography juices flowing again is to find inspiration through the eyes of others.
In January, I was looking for something new, and the always delightful Melody from Hip Momma’s Journal suggested we team up. And voila, Team-Up Thursday was born! Each week, we pick a theme, and much like “A Year of Mornings”pair did, we each take a photograph, send it to the other, and post it as a diptych on Thursday for the world to see.
We aren’t the only ones along on this creative venture. Each week, pairs of photographers from all over play along with us, and their creations are nothing less than stunning. It’s reinvigorated me creatively, and there’s nothing better than looking over the diptychs created each week by pairs of women — some of whom know each other in person, others only on-line — and see where their minds and hearts and cameras have taken them that week. Even more, how interesting it is to see how, so many times, the camera sees things that seem to go together so well in a diptych, yet neither photographer had consulted the other.
Come along for the ride, why don’t you? Join us on a Thursday, any Thursday, and play along. If you don’t have a partner, no worries; we’ve been hooking people up week by week.
Even if you’re feeling tentative, please stop by our Flickr group and see what partnership and creativity can produce.

I’ve been seeing team-up diptychs everywhere over the last few weeks…all of them wonderful. Such a fantastic idea, looks like so much fun!
I love being a part of this, it has definitely fueled my creativity! The group of women involved are all amazing people and photographers.
I love this idea and since I’ve got a built in parter with my sister on our blog this is a perfect assignment for us. Today I’ve posted over at http://visionandverb.com (a bit of a shameless plug) but collaboration is so much fun I had to share. Two of us, unbenownst to each other have written complementary posts. The synchronicity that flows in these projects is mindboggling, we really are in tune with each other.
My partner and I started teaming up a few weeks ago and we’re having a ball! She’s from Australia–I’m from Utah. That in itself is fun. Who knows what photo someone across the world will come up with?! Amazingly, we think alike and we’re having a great time working together. Thanks Megan and Melody for organizing it and keeping us going–great job!
Here’s a link to our latest diptych–theme Yellow. http://www.ayearofhappy.com/2010/03/mellow-yellow.html
It has been so much fun being a part of Team-Up Thursdays. I’ve been so busy with everything else in my life and this has given me the push I needed to get back and focus on photography. I’ve also joined Tracey’s class next week so I’m looking forward to the upcoming inspiration with that as well.
i partner with my daughter – however we usually don’t have a particular theme. but in this recent post we used our images from another flickr group theme and it worked out nicely.

maybe i need a change and should pair with someone i don’t know.
I can’t wait to start this!!! what a wonderful idea. thanks for sharing
My sister-in-law and I started this to help us along in our Project 365. We may need to join you on Thursdays! We totally forgot about it this past week! And we could use some inspiration for the theme. At least I could use some inspiration!
A friend and I are interested in joining in on this cool group. I have a question, does she and I pick our weekly theme? Or, is there a group theme that we follow? I am a bit confused on that. Also, only one person from the pair uploads to the group, correct? I am thinking so.
Great idea, great inspiration. Look forward to it.
Awesome post! I’ve been looking for a partner for this project idea for awhile…I joined the flickr group and left a comment on the Team-up Thursday blog. Hoping I find a partner to try this out =)
I’d love to do this. Anyone looking for a partner?
My friend and I started something like this late last year, except we are posting ours on Sunday. http://www.SundayShutterbugs.blogspot.com This year we decided to do our topics alphabetically, each letter getting 2 weeks of the calendar year. So for A it was Art one week and Animals the next. Its been really fun doing it. I might consider joining you on Thursday for just my own fun, once I get a solo blog up and running.
I think that to receive the business loans from banks you should present a great motivation. But, once I have received a auto loan, because I was willing to buy a building.
fun idea! i’m signed up for your class @ BPS so I’ll be taking lots of photos soon. :0>
This project has brought me so much JOY….so fun to be creative with another blogger.
I’ve seen some of these on Flickr but didn’t realize it was a movement or a group! I love making my own diptychs but oh this sounds so invigorating.
Oh and I hope someone will remove that annoying spam comment.
My sister and I started a 365 diptych sister photoblog (phew!) on January 1st (http://spiritedsisterhood.blogspot.com/) It amazes us both how similar our pictures might be in shape or color or theme. I thought it was because we are sisters on the same wavelength most of the time, but perhaps this is more common than I thought. I love the idea of diptychs and a daily surprise, seeing what each of us captured with our lens that day.
My best friend and I just started a joint project 3 weeks ago (http://aperspectiveproject.blogspot.com), so the timing for this is so perfect.
I’ve read this site for a few months now and I am so inspired by the photography and the writing.
Thanks for the inspiration,
Mary
Looking forward to joining your flickr site!
I am just loving being a part of Team-Up Thursday. There is so much inspiration in seeing all the diptychs each week. Thanks for all the fun, Melody and Megan!
