There are 7 us, friends since high school, some of us friends since grade school.  Some of us have kept in touch throughout the years while some of us haven’t seen each other since we were in school.  Last summer we reconnected at our high school reunion and like we had never been apart, we picked up right where we had left off.  We’ll stay in touch this time, we promised.  It seemed important that we keep that promise, and we have.

Last weekend, after much planning and schedule arranging, we managed to get a much needed girl’s weekend away together.  Finally we had a chance to be together for more than just a couple of hours to really get to know each other again and cement the bond of friendship.  Between us we’ve experienced marriage, divorce, breast cancer, loss and love found.  Souls were bared, a few tears were shed but the laughter was endless.  Our hearts broke wide open, our love spilling out to embrace each of us.

I think our reconnection has occured all these years later for a reason.  The universe has brought us together again to love and nurture each other.  To quote the beautiful and wise Jen Lemen, one of the most powerful things that can happen to you is being seen for who you really are and loved deeply at the same time. I feel safe and loved and accepted by these women and for that, I am deeply thankful.

  4. Wow, that's fantastic to be able to reconnect after all these years. I'm thankful for family and friends and for the love and support that they all give me. My family are flying out to visit with us this Christmas, it's been a long time since we've all been together for the holidays and we're all super excited.

  11. That's so awesome you were able to reconnect like that! Of course I'm grateful for my family, my friends (both IRL and online!), a decent job and a car that works, but new in my life this year is this man:

    And gratitude has been the word that defines our relationship. Every day, I marvel at just how lucky I am. So much to be grateful for.

  13. I will treasure our girls night out it was so beautiful. The soul baring was beyond words and made me feel like living life again. I must admit I have been feeling a little sorry for myself, but after sharing such warm words, feelings and hugs with you my friends I can lift my head a little higher and smile so much brighter. Oh, and the fact that my daughters shared this evening with us make it so much more memorable too! I often forget they are young women and to hear their laughter at our expense made me see them in a whole differnt light!!

  14. I have girlfriends like that. Only there are four of us. I can't imagine them not being there with me, to share my happy times and I would never think not to hold their hand when they were sad. Certain people change you for the good… and forever.
