Have you been craving creative time? Are you ready to explore your newfound love for images and photography? Are you looking for some mentoring to help you take your photo skills to the next level? Are you interested in connecting with other photographers to play together?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you need to join me at The Makerie in Boulder, Colorado, this coming Spring! The Makery is a cozy mountain retreat designed to inspire, encourage and nurture your creativity. I’ll be teaching two photography classes that are deeply rooted in all the goodness we share here at Shutter Sisters! It does not matter what equipment you have, if you just picked up the camera, if you have been shooting for a while, or if you are already a pro. My classes are focused on supporting you while you take the next step, whatever that may be for you. Perhaps the step you most need to take is to simply show up and embrace your love for photography! That is more than enough, isn’t it? So if you want to recharge, feel inspired, learn some new tricks, and enjoy connection… Come play with me!
In addition to the workshops, there will be wake-up yoga and/or hiking, as well as healthy, local, organic yummy foods as part of the weekend. This is also a green production with an emphasis on recycling, re-purposing, organics and natural materials. So you can’t go wrong, sister. You just can’t. It really is that good! And I would absolutely love to meet some of you in person!!! 🙂

So tell me, what is the next step for you in your photography?
And if you are inclined, share with us whatever image you are most inspired and moved to share today. Yep. I am sure whatever is inspiring you, will inspire us as well!
BLOCK PRINTING | COLOR | EMBELLISHMENT | JEWELRY DESIGN
KNITTING | PAINTING | PATTERN DESIGN | PHOTOGRAPHY
RECYCLED ART | SHOE MAKING | YOGA
In addition to the workshops, we will provide wake-up yoga and/or hiking, as well as healthy, local, organic (where possible), yummy foods as part of the weekend so you feel nurtured all around. Our creative getaway makes special efforts to be kind to the earth, as we strive to make thoughtful choices
in the event planning process, during the event, and in the classes themselves, with an emphasis on recycling, re-purposing, organics and natural materials. Simply put, being at the Makerie is like being back at camp.
I am constantly inspired by the beauty of flowers,
I try to push myself outside of my comfort zone of flower photography but keep on returning. Hadn't taken any for a while until this one yesterday.

The classes sound wonderful! My next step is to delve more deeply into film photography. And after a year and a half exploring the desert, I'm finding inspiration in (and hoping to move to) the mountains: http://instamaticgratification.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/367/#comment-1325
Looks like/sounds like a wonderful place for a beautiful retreat. I'm always looking for different points-of-view:

And – to capture the 'emotion' and 'relationship':

Those classes sound like a dream! Only too bad Colorado is a bit too far from Norway..
The next step for me will be a lensbaby – my Dad wanted to give me one as a Christmas present, but they were all sold out here, so he promised me one when they're back in stock. In the meanwhile, the winter season is inspiring me to experiment with sepia tones:

My next step will be macro photography. I am madly in love with the snowflake shots that I have been seeing on flickr.
Inspired lately by the 5 senses and textures.

I was inspired when I saw photos of gerber daisies in the snow so I set out to capture my own snow flower.

I'm not very good at taking portraits. As you scroll my photostream it is most obvious. My friend Bon started a home project where once per week we snap a picture of our spouse and tell a 52 week love story through pictures. This has inspired me to not shy away from faces and find beauty in the everyday life in our house.

I am finishing up creating the last lessons of my free photo e-course, http://sanderwood.blogspot.com/ and looking for fresh ideas. I am actually going to start working through 2 books I purchased, Expressive Photography by Shutter Sisters (Yay!) and Inner Excavation: Explore Your Self Through Photography, Poetry and Mixed Media by Liz Lamoreux. This retreat sounds amazing!!! I just went over to the website and started to drool!!
It might be an omen that the last picture I posted on Flickr was of travel…..the last trip I took with my crafty girlfriends!

You shutter sisters really do ROCK!
Darn…this would be a perfect opportunity IF it were in the Sacramento, CA. area!
I was inspired by Photojojo and Hello Canvas . . . just thought I'd pass along the discount.

I'm with Emily, bring it to Sacramento! I haven't discovered what my next step creatively is going to be. I'm still exploring so much whenever I find the time and am constantly being inspired by other photographers my brain is full of ideas I'd like to try. Just a matter of making time to explore those ideas and organize them into a reality.
Your retreat sounds wonderful! It is so exciting to launch something new like this. Brava!
I am enjoying the study of composition and winter subjects, and sharing what I discover: http://www.kateyeview.com/2011/01/exploring-with-camera-fog.html
Sounds delicious! Ic ould really use and infusion like this. Especially today as I got some news that wasn't so good. I posted about it although I'm not sure I would use the word inspired/inspiring to describe this particualar day. Still looking for the beautiful in everything. Though today it is a stretch. Thanks for being here.

Sounds divine!
I've been playing with Sepia lately and really love how this one turned out of my step-daughter, me, and the hubs!

My next step is to develop a consistent port, get signed by an agency and travel.

I'm inspired by everyday activities. It's nice to have my camera to shoot whenever I feel the need.
This sounds great! I'm also in Sacramento, please bring it here!
Ohhh that retreat looks so tempting (and the website is super cute too!)!! The next step for me is launching my business. Nearly everything is in place – so close I can taste it! Lately I can't stop playing with the iPhone app Instagram – so fun! Love this shot of my parents at lunch Saturday – any shot with sun flare is instantly better, right? 😉
