The Wonder of It All

November 14, 2011 By Stephanie Calabrese

I’ve been quiet for quite some time. Carefully selecting thoughts and turning them over. Over again in my mind. Wondering. Seeking. Questioning. Flattened by hard rains. And strengthening bit by bit. I’ve been tracing the paths of tiny veins to see where they start, how they divide and connect. Where they end. I’ve been peeking out at the distant sun beneath an extended autumn. A time when colors fade and fall. When the wind blows and sends this evidence of life into a swirling state of flux. It scratches the concrete and chills my fingertips. I miss the green.

When it warms, I’ll look up and see the wonder of it all.

Tell me how you are?

Quiet is good. There's something about this time of year when everything is changing…a time to go inwards and re-assess. Enjoying the very last gasp of a late-ending Autumn:

We all need that time of quiet contemplation. Beautiful image, I love the point of view you've chosen.

I've been struggling with the topic of balance in my life. Feeling like I was trying to be "too many things." That exploration has brought some measure of acceptance, of who I am and always will be:

I've been watching and recording the change of seasons. Right now, we're sitting between two seasons – fence sitting.

Even as the green fades to brown, as the flowers wither and the leaves fall, I still find so much beauty everywhere I look. And when I catch a glimpse of color, it reminds me that there is still life to live and take pleasure in. Have a wonderful week!

    So eloquently said, Stephanie.

I'm right there with you- I miss the green. I didn't realize this until this weekend and I realized there was a lack of colour everywhere. In our car, we whizzed by a bright green field and in that moment, I realized that everything around that field was brown or grey.

It will be easier when snow covers the ground the sun emerges.

It's pieces of writing like this that pull me out of my slumps. Thank you.

who, for the sake of pleasing the king, had been obliged to assume an amiable mien towards this whole rustic rabble of Flemish burgomasters, and to regale them at his H?tel de Bourbon, with a very "pretty morality, allegorical satire, and farce," while a driving rain drenched the magnificent tapestries at his door. http://www.digbbc.com
