“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” Maya Angelou
As our month of stories comes to an end, I can’t help but wonder about all the stories that are still lodged inside each one of us, patiently waiting to be told. I’m wondering if you are like me, and perhaps you’ve just scratched the surface in terms of what you need to say and shoot. I mean, I am not even talking about whole life stories here, I’m just sticking to this month still…
As I pondered on my September, I remembered moments when I felt excited, in love, sad, challenged, hopeful, out of words… To each of these moments, there was a story attached, of course. But sadly, I’m now only carrying the weight of memories, because those stories remain untold. So I wholeheardly agree with Maya Angelou’s quote above, and I would like to add that maybe, if we all told more stories, then maybe, we could all walk lighter in this world…
At least we’ve got a good start here at SS, right? ๐ And since we still have time (lucky us!), how about we share one more image, and tell one more story that needs to be told today? Share with us today a photograph that tells the story of your September/ or your life.
We are giving away one $100 Paper Coterie gift card EVERY SINGLE DAY of September to one of YOU! All you have to do is share a comment each day before midnight EST for your chance to win that day’s random drawing. And be sure to keep shooting your own stories and adding them to the OWP Pool on Flickr where you have a second chance at winning one of those $100 Paper Coterie giveaways.

My September story might be about change – about both the seasons and life in general. And now – it's time to fly off and into something and somewhere new:

Last weekend I took my grandchildren to "My Big Backyard" at the Memphis Botanic Garden. This was one of the novelty flower beds that were featured there. My September has been about outdoor adventures with the babies!

My September Story would be on change; the change of seasons, the change in our lives ( selling our parents home, chnage in jobs, change of attitude.) A friend told me… "You don't judge a book by it's cover. Don't judge change by the beginning. Wait until the end. You'll be surprised at the results."
Thank you for a great month of sharing stories SS ๐

My September has been full of stories, thanks to the OWP challenge! But this photo is the September photo that best encapsulates my internal September:

Constantly moving
Clinging with family and friends
aware of, and yearning for, the apparent peace, calm, and simplicity of the life outside of mine
It has been so fun to share stories this month with you Shutter Sisters! Today I am reflecting on what I would like my story to be, and creating a vision for what I'd like my life to look like:

My story for the week is in my blog post about starting my first week in Susannah Conways online Unraveling course. It is great so far, and so much fun and enlightenment in sharing the stories of 150 women from all over the world. Hope you will check out my blog post, and that all of you have a great weekend!!!

Longing for the return to a sense of place, longing for the rhythm of the seasons while living in a mostly seasonless place, longing for continuity…

๐ September is definitely the month I opened my wings, flew to London and back, started using my camera manually (only have it since last July). started unravelling myself. http://www.anasofiaeugenio.com/2011/09/earth-wonders-photo-challenge-sky.html
The month of September is really about change for me. My youngest of 4 is off to school and my oldest is in middle school now experiencing more responsibility and more freedom. I'm trying to piece together our lives after a tornado ripped through and completely stripped my yard and neighborhood from all its trees. The new grass is beginning to grow, the new trees have been planted. We are welcoming a whole heck of a lot more sunshine than we ever had before. So much so that the following appeared in my yard late this summer

I feel a little unsettled and a lot less safe after the tornado. But I have no choice other than to embrace the changes it brought to us.
In September I am Persephone, clutching on to the last bright bits of summer, resisting the cold and darkness I feel returning….the inevitable descent calling me….http://www.flickr.com/photos/heather-cox/6156961531/in/photostream
Wow, beautiful photo. Here's my story…

September has always been my month, a time for me to celebrate another year gone by and the one to come. Some years, I've challenged myself, others I've pampered. This month, I did both, taking a short trip on my own to discover new things and pampering myself with lots of food! But this month has been difficult as well, still trying to accept a lost friendship/relationship that is already 3 month's gone. I find solace in the things around me, sometimes I capture it on film, sometimes I just enjoy it for myself.

The posts here on Shutter Sisters the last few days have inspired me. I was in a definite rut: I'm in the midst of my third Project 365 and I'd gotten in a really bad habit of grabbing my camera at the end of the day and doing a "drive-by" photo. Whatever my lens landed on was the photo – no thought, no planning, no inspiration.
Yesterday, I noticed the fall leaves starting to turn in a development near work. I had my camera with me, so after work, when the light was perfect, I drove home that way to get some shots. I parked on the side of the road and walked up and down the length of the street taking different photos. I got some good shots, and one I just loved:

Thank you, Shutter Sisters!
Thousands of stories untold but here's one spoken :

My September story is my son's broken leg. He hasn't let his broken leg bring him down. He still has a happy joyful personality. I try to take my inspiration from him – and be joyful every day. The photo is taken with my Android phone so it isn't the greatest quality.

My September looked like this, with lots of hot temps and outdoor play: http://melissamillerphotos.com/2011/09/backyard-tea-party/
I keep a blog to document our family. So many times while I'm shooting I'll be composing the blog post story in my head, but then it never makes it to the blog, just because I don't have the time. Those untold stories really get me down sometimes. Here's one:

and the blog

It was a fun month having a little extra reason to check back here with the gift cards. Thanks!
My September Story has all been about getting our youngest settled in a new school – he has Autism and sometimes new things can be quite overwhelming but this choice to move has been a good one. And even though he is only going to school 1/2 days he has been integrated over 50% of the time, most success we have had with school. He is a big 9 year old, happy, socializing and having fun and now in Underwear!! Yah – living the dream and sometimes need reminders of that.
Well women, thanks for the great contest. My September was filled with bonbons and roses.

Can a bath have a story? When you are the mother of a five-year-old boy who is finally asleep in bed, then yes, a lavender bubble bath can contain quite a story (of survival).
