From what I can tell, it’s been one chilly winter. Of course being in So Cal, I wouldn’t know but I don’t like to rub it in.
When you’re in no mood to battle the elements, and you need to seek shelter from the storm, how do you keep yourself warm and cozy?
Toni says
Tea is my major comfort food, not a day goes by without 2 or 3 cups. And sometimes it’s a whole lot more then that ๐
(btw, I’m from So CA, and am living in Germany until summer. This kind of winter is whole new experience for us!)

What a dreamy image!!!

I refocus on something else and it almost always involves a camera. It was freezing here when I took this picture, but I never noticed the cold.

Beautiful image! So cozy and warm.

sometimes you don’t even need to drink the tea or coffee to feel cozy. just looking at the steam like this makes me feel that way! lovely image.
Reese says
I love this shot of steam rising from the cup. It really conjures up images of warmth and comfort. I love it when a simple object becomes the centre subject of a photograph!
Thanks for sharing!

It’s even been a chilly winter in Houston! The old standby: a warm blanket, cup of tea, good book, and my snuggly dog curled up next to me on the sofa.

we’ve had some really cold weather in the prairies. and i’ve whined about the cold or being cold A LOT.
but, my son bought me a heated throw blanket for christmas. i have it on my studio chair and it’s just amazing. i rarely complain about the cold now. ๐
take care, kim

So funny, I read this first on Google Reader where I couldn’t see your (lovely!) image. When I clicked over here to share my picture of a tea cup, what do I find. I love synchronicity.

That said, I also love flannel sheets.

Lovely picture.
A thick, beautiful wool blanket I bought in Ireland. Always does the trick.

Around 3 o’clock most afternoons I have a cuppa tea. All of the tea in my house is decaf so I can have whatever flavor I want at any hour of the day! One kind I did not care for was the "Hazelnut Chocolate Tea" – three words that should never be used together.

The winters in Chicago are brutal (which is why I run away for three months) but when I’m there, it’s worth it to brave the wind, get to a bookstore, grab a pile of magazines and sit with a cup of coffee for hours. Of course I buy something before I leave–it’s the polite thing to do ๐
Crystal says
Fireplace + rocking chair + quilt + chai latte’ + a good book = warm, cozy and happy!
Tamara says
A nice cup of flavored decaffeinated tea. I’m drinking pomegranate vanilla as we speak. I also like to cozy up in a blanket with thick socks and sweats.

Such a lovely capture of the steam and a little sun flare!
One of my favorite things about our "new" 80-year-old house is the radiators. http://www.flickr.com/photos/theloushe/4198417140/ My children sit on them, I warm slippers under them, and we use them to dry wet winter things.

a day out with hot chocolate in a sunbeam:

LOL so true Tracey! I think we’re finally getting some real rain all next week though. ๐ I just make my dog cuddle up with me (real tough…he cries to be let under the covers!), he has no fat and hardly any hair so he doesn’t retain any body heat; he’s like a cuddly space heater!
Liz says
not the best photo, but i LOVE tea! love love love. can’t get enough. ideally, i curl up with tea and some quilting or a book and get warm and cozy. late afternoon is the best time for this, especially with the sun coming through the window!

I am in the same boat–the SoCal boat that is! I feel kind of guilty that I haven’t had to deal with any of the unusual cold. In fact I’ve been feel like it’s unusually warm for January in these parts! Anyway I don’t want to brag…but that’s a great photo! Love it. ๐

Hmmmm…this is the thought that drove me to write a picture book, The Warmest Place of All. After you’ve tried the quilt, the cocoa, the warm bath, etc. you will find that the THE WARMEST PLACE OF ALL is snuggling with those who love you most.
A friend sent me to this site today. I love the concept of Shutter Sisters!

I could go for one of those right about..now. Curse you, rain.
