Rice fields had always been on my dream list of places and things to shoot. Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, Phillipines, etc. Somehow I’ve been chasing them all over the world in order to capture their inexplicable beauty. I love capturing the vastness, the saturated greens, the workers with big hats and scarfs, the flags dancing with the wind… I often have a hard time remembering it is actually all about the rice! ๐
How about you? What are the places (or things) you dream of shooting in this lifetime? And if some of your shooting dreams have already come true, please share those images with us today.
Altho I dream of photographing all sorts of exotic places…many of my dreams are simply about capturing the impossible – like 2 butterflies at once and together:

I dream of one day shooting wild animals (with my camera, of course) on a safari.
I dream of capturing that perfect landscape shot . . . . a dark and moody rocky beach with an amazing night sky.
I have shots of the place I would like to spend a lot of time before I die. They are fields of the sea marsh of Martha's Vineyard along the ocean. The grass is a rich, warm orange/gold in the fall, like a wave of swaying, soft grass rolling up to the dunes.

8 years ago my answer would have been involving cliffs in a remote untouched part of the world with National Geographic's equipment on my back. Now that I have kids and the reality of charting the world with some of the most amazing scientists is interrupted by screams of someone entering someone else's personal space. I know dream of getting that perfect shot of all three of my boys gleaming with their personality, staying still long enough to get the perfect settings on my camera, and no one ruining the shot with a finger up the nose or a tongue stuck into the air.
I dream of shooting the back streets of Paris and other old european cities. To show the undiscovered beauty in what is rarely seen by those so used to the landscape that they don't really see it anymore and those who only look for what they think they need to see to have experienced a place.
I love to travel, and have been blessed with a day job that sends me to far-away lands. India was one of my favorite places to explore with a camera.

oh kristin! if only I'd known of your dream a year ago! I would have loved to have you at my daughter's birth! That is an easy dream to make come true as I'm sure many sisters would love to have you shoot their moment as well. And you as a doula… Hmm That would be just perfect too! xo
Becky, I absolutely love redwoods too! Those big trees have completely captured my heart since I moved to the west coast. Have fun in your upcoming shoot and please share some pics with us soon ๐
I have always dreamed about visiting Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Last December my dream came true. Reality was heartbreakingly beautiful and think my dreams will forever be haunted by it ๐

I would love an African Safari photo shoot
what a fun question! my list is long – here are some at the top:
My first time away from home alone was an exchange program to Japan at 16. My hosts showed me so much of their beautiful country, and I tried to capture everything with my instamatic. I dream about showing my family all of the places that enchanted me as a girl – with my my better equipment and photographic know how.
I would love to visit and shoot the English & Italian lakes I have read about in so many favorite novels.
In the U.S., this east coast girl has dreamt of taking a driving trip down the Pacific Coast Highway ever since childhood. And my fondness for roadside attractions leaves me daydreaming about a road trip across the country along Route 66. When I first conjured those trips photography was implied, these days it would play a much bigger role.
