where most photographers would like to get to

June 12, 2011 By Irene Nam

“my lack of knowledge in the beginning really helped, and really just made me refine what little I knew to make it work. I think if you ask any person that does a creative thing, they probably go to school and learn all these different things and as they get better it just narrows and narrows. you could ask most chefs, they just need five ingredients, one pan and a stick of butter and they can make the best meal you’ve ever had. and I think that’s really where most photographers would like to get to, as not to have all that other stuff, be able to create the most beautiful image they can in the most simple way that they can.”

– Scott Schumann aka The Satorialist, Intel Visual Life

Today create (and show us), the most beautiful image you can in the most simple way you can.

I love your photograph. The colors, light and dof help to convey a simple story. My attached image is very simple, but was screaming with meaning when I took it and reflected on it later.

And this – a perfectly simple expression of love:

And your image – Irene – is absolutely divine!!!!

Beautiful photo and I also love the ones posted above, Jess and Marcie! I took these a few days ago when my son decided to take his bubbles with us to go watch the sunset. These were my favorites, the last one being the simplest:

normally a photoshop gal, yesterday's simple day led to simple pictures with no photoshop work. this is my favorite, taken at my favorite time of day, as the quiet settles in, before the night begins.

The image above is beautiful. I love the light and mystery of the person in the shot.

This one comes to mind. An image of my dog fetching a ball.

It was passed over for my blog when it was originally photographed because it was out of focus. But a year later when I went looking for an image of Bentley to celebrate his first year with us, this image was perfect.

I love this whole idea, and your lovely image. When I strip down to the simplest equipment, it reminds me of why I starting to love photography in the first place. The creative capture of some detail I've noticed or a moment that matters. Some of my favorite images have been taken with a point-and-shoot camera while on a walk, like this one here:
    http://www.kateyeview.com/2011/06/realization-of-heart.html
I wasn't looking for the emotion that struck me on this walk, and I wasn't out to take photos, but I was glad to have a camera, any camera, to keep this moment frozen in time.

I wanted to capture the wonderful joy the children were having in the fountain, but I didn't want to be too obvious or invade anyone's privacy. So, I turned off the autofocus and got this. I love the happiness in the little girl's face.

One of my favorite aspects of photography is to capture something so simple in nature and make it beautiful. Here's a few simple sprigs of grass that I shot in my yard one morning. The backlighting was just right. It's such a simple subject but it called out to be captured…

It has been over a month that I have taken a picture – I pulled out the camera to get a candid shot of her, but her curiosity brought her full frame.

that quote sums up my view of photography. At this point, i feel like if I had one lens, I could get what I wanted to, what I dream up. I hear back up lens!! Two of everything! all the time, and at first I stressed out. But I believe in my heart that if I stretch myself, I could get a beautiful image with what ever lens I happen to have. Less is often more. And more is a heavy burden to carry on your back! (and soul) Beauty and freedom is simplicity!

"Be able to create the most beautiful image they can in the most simple way that they can" – I love this statement of yours. I am into business photography and though it is quite different from other creative fields of photography, I always strive to create the most beautiful image I can in the simplest way I can. Thanks a lot!
