“When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.” -Ansel Adams
As November closes with it ends our One Word, “focus”. It is clear that we are all speaking with our images as Ansel so beautifully said. You have shared with us what you focus on, who you focus on. How some days are clearly in focus, where others are nothing more than beautiful blur. Some focused on the bigger picture where others focused on the tiny details. Whatever your focus, how we see and what we choose to point our lenses at each day, is what makes this such a beautiful space.
Thank you for sharing all your images of focus and thank you to Focal Press our fabulous publisher for sponsoring this month’s One Word Project.
Are you feeling focused today? Or perhaps things seem slightly out of focus? Lets all pick up our cameras and share just what focus means to us this one last time. Don’t forget to add your images and words here in our comments, but also in the Shutter Sister’s OWP Flickr Pool.
My focus (especially during this hectic time of year) is on simple pleasures:

Focusing on the simplest of details..the reflections of a seagull in the winter ice:

Sometimes you've just got to grab the camera and click, no time to change the settings. Grandfather and grandson in the early morning light…

I photographed a large present and got really close and was only able to focus on the bow. However, I thought it turned out just fine.

I seem to be drawn to focus on the little details lately…close up.

I am focusing on the quiet beauty of autumn leaves, and my gratitude for the soothing balm of nature, and comfort of the changing seasons.

Now that the leaves are off the trees it's easy to focus on the details. Also, I 'm trying to identify this tree. :>)

I am focusing on family.
This coming April will mark the 20th anniversary of my daddy's death. One day he left for work (a sign painter–painting billboards that day) and accidentally fell 80+ feet to his death (in front of my 18 yr old brother). My mom was left with myself and my 7 siblings-alone. It has been a long road with many ups and downs, but being a mom now I can empathize with my mom in many ways that I just never understood as a child. A few things I come away with when thinking of her is that she is strong, and faithful to the core.
Three years ago, a mom lost her very long long fight to cancer-leaving behind 3 children-the youngest, an 11 year old girl.
On a beautiful fall day, on the New England coast. Two families met to become one. My mom's 8 children (and spouses), and now 9 grandchildren…along with our 3 new siblings. It was just us-quiet, simple, and we circled our parents to watch them promise their love and join both our families into one.

I loved the OWP this month because i often feel I need a bit more focus in my life and this project helped.
I have tended to get up close this month to the last bits of color amongst the sticks of the pending winter.

Actually, where there is no detail, the photo will always portray it. That is to say that, the photo will always bring forth detail. Great sayings above to end and begin a month.
Today I accompanied my son on his field trip to the Connecticut Science Museum. I didn't sign up to chaperone but he begged his teacher for me to come along and how could I deny that? He's 10 and the days with him wanting me along are numbered.

Love this image!
While one did his chores and the other practiced his piano I went for my practice this morning and thought about remaining focused for next year too.

as the seasons have undeniably turned, in the past week or so, I have been searching for the bits of natural color that will take the place of summer's butterflies and autumn's leaves . . .

With the short days and the pressure of a 365 project, I have started to focus on making friends with my flash. I feel like it's an important arrow to have in my quiver, but damn if it doesn't intimidate me.
