angel

December 26, 2009 By Paige Balcer

I’m lucky to have a spouse that is often a willing participant in my artistic endeavors. Occasionally I have a slightly off-the-wall idea and John is usually the one I turn to for help. In this case, it went something like this…”so I was thinking that we should go in the backyard and take pictures of each other making snow angels in a foot of snow. And by the way it’s 5 degrees outside” Not only did my husband gladly take part in my little project, but also climbed over the railing of our deck and jumped backwards into the yard so he wouldn’t make any footprints in the unmarred snow. But what we didn’t really realize was that this particular snow had a thick layer of icy crust on top. So when John fell backwards to create his snow angel, his limbs just sort of stuck there all bent in every direction and he reminded me of the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. I think our whole neighborhood heard my laughter. Eventually he was able to break through the crust and make the classic snow angel. And while my vision didn’t exactly match the outcome, it ended up being a memorable moment and a I got a pretty cool souvenir. I ended up turning this little diptych into to/from tags for Christmas gifts this year and they seemed to be a big hit amongst friends and family.

Do you have a willing model? Someone who will humor you when you have an idea for a photo?

agree with Toni, Wonderbra,l idea for gift tags!. while I was reading I pictured your poor husband’s over the icy snow and I found myself laughing too (pls, don’t tell him!).

About your question, I wish my husband were bit more collaborative on my artistic endeavors but he’s just over it. He’s just SO tired of been my fav (only) model that I told him we really need to get a baby soon so I can *entertain* myself doing pictures of our baby, but no baby in the future (yet).

    anyway, happy holidays

My darling husband John was posing for pictures long before he met me and he almost never complains when I say … " just let me get one more. "

You’ll be able to tell which photograph is mine if you take a look below at this post.

Haha, awww, what a sweet guy! My sweetie is exactly the same: he is always ready and willing to turn my visions into a reality. Whatever tree I may wish him to climb… whatever costume I wish for him to don… whatever destination we must travel to, he is always there for me. He is a true blessing.

My sweet husband is so patient with me and my camera. He says to our friends, "I’ve learned to just ignore her." I really appreciate his willingness to be my guinea pig.

Here’s one of him that I love:

My kids are my main subject but my hubby will definitely humor me when I have an idea. Here he put on wings for my tooth fairy shot!

Of my 4 kids, my eldest humors me the most. I had this image in my mind back in Sept for our not-back-to-school shot (we homeschool) and she helped me make the shot happen:)

No, I do not have someone that would gladly be my subject! Dang it! Lucky you. I think those are GREAT. Especially love the pop of the red boots. ๐Ÿ™‚
